Magic: The Gathering doesn’t stop in 2024 and one of the most exciting editions has arrived for fans of the popular collectible card game. With new cards reviving the modern format and Magic favorites returning from the past, Modern Horizons 3 opens up a world that’s fun to explore.
Who is Modern Horizon 3 (Modern Horizon III)?
The Eldrazi titans Emrakul, Ulamog and Kozilek are back in all their glory.
In addition to the core set versions found in all booster packs, serialized versions of the Eldrazi Titans can be seen in Modern 3 Horizon Collector Boosters with 250 copies of the three serial titans, concept art in Double Rainbow Foil. These cards are only in English, but can be seen on collector incentives in all languages.
New Double-Sided Planeswalker Cards: Dive into the origin stories of some of Magic’s most iconic characters. For example, Planeswalker Tamiyo goes from an inquisitive student to a seasoned scholar, with new skills and strategies.
There will be nearly 40 returning mechanics, both classic and new, some that haven’t been seen in the meta for a while, including:
• Energy: Energy counters can be used to pay the costs of activated and triggered abilities that require energy.
• Grant: When a player has a card with Grant in their hand, they can normally take it for the mana cost or discard it for the cost of the grant. A gifted creature gives you the option to cast it as an aura that enchants a creature, granting the enchanted creature the creature’s power, strength, and abilities.
• Upgrade: Several cards in the set represent upgraded creatures. A creature you control is enhanced if it has one or more counters, is equipped, and/or is possessed by an aura. It is the state or condition of a being that has evolved, not its own capacity.
Special art treatments and collectibles in the new edition of Magic: The Gathering
• 42 reprints made into the modern format for the first time, including popular Commander cards like Medallion Cycle, Urza’s Incubator, and more.
• Retro frame cards are a fan favorite and nostalgic for the early days of Magic.
Modern 3 Horizon Commander Classes:
Commander boats. Modern 3 Horizon Commander boats boast powerful mechanics, and are ready to play right out of the box. Along with new features found in the collection, including:
• “Difficult Land”, a green-blue deck that creates advantage on the land side.
• “Cemetery Overdrive”, a black-red-green tile centered on a graveyard.
• “Creative Energy”, a blue-red-white tile that uses energy for powerful purposes.
• “Eldrazi incursion”, a five-color Eldrazi deck that devours all opponents.
Modern 3-Horizon Commander Collector’s Edition Decks feature a unique new Ripple Foil treatment on all 100 cards and each deck includes two edgeless profile versions of legendary creatures.
