X-Men 97 Showrunner Reveals The Events Of The Animated Show Will Have Consequences In The MCU

The X-Men ’97 presenter has clarified whether the Mutant animated series will tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Is X-Men ’97 canon to the MCU?

In the year Marvel fans who grew up watching the animated Mutants series in the 1990s were thrilled with the announcement of X-Men 97, a direct sequel project to the cartoon. Last week, the first trailer for the new show was released, and it’s confirmed that it will arrive on Disney+ on March 20, 2024. Even if everything seems happy, there’s always the debate of what is canon or not with every Marvel project. And it was no different. Fortunately, the showrunner for the series quickly cleared that up.

Beau DeMayo explained that X-Men ’97 is not canon to the MCU, saying, “We’re our own thing.” He made that comment when asked if it would be canon in the universe created since the first Iron Man film.

The first trailer for this version of The Mutants has shown us that the show will pick up right where the 90s series left off, with more than one exciting surprise to come.
