ComicBookMovie spoke with Madame Web director SJ Clarkson and asked her if the outlet would take this opportunity to include any direct references to Spider-Man. Clarkson replied that the idea was always to focus on the main character. Below, we share the words of the director.

“Well, I think I’m focused on the fact that her name is Madam Web and I’m excited to have a strong, awesome superhero in the lead. What impressed me the most was the openness and the fact that it had never been done before. “There have been many versions of many superheroes and special abilities, but I think her story deserves to be told in its own way.”

Clarkson’s words confirm what has been said in recent weeks. So, if you’re expecting Spider-Man-related surprises, you might be in for a disappointment.
