Iron Shoes Lindem Garrido

Iron Shoes is the latest installment in the Spanish Bomb series published by cARTEm Comics, featuring Rafael Lindem and Andres Garrido as they narrate a dystopian future with two young but brave heroes.

CARTEm had the good opportunity to open a collection to show new national talents to the general public, under the title of Spanish Bombs, like Iron Shoes, previously best sellers in its publications such as: Destrozados, File Number or Somos Probetus. In the words of the publisher, it is a collection that has emerged as a real “bomb” of creativity and talent.

Dystopian Futures, as Cerezo analyzes well in the introduction to the work, is one of the most reflected themes in cinema, but not in national cinema, the screenwriter is required to tell the story. Furthermore, these dystopias are narrated in other works such as The Count, as well as in cARTEm-, Rome West, Undiscovered Country or the most recent Clear.

Conspiracy

In the recent past, Great Britain has fallen under a tyrannical and repressive government, just like V for Vendetta, which has to face many threats, because the world as we know it, has changed a lot and even the old continent is not plunged in uncertainty.

In that “futureless” future, where war seems to be the natural state of humanity, a young woman named Roni Mattei searches for her place in the world, the joy and happiness that adults try to paint a shadow of. By chance, he meets another young man named Balthasar, who has lost the lower part of his body due to the disease and has to use a metal frame to walk.

Even though Balthasar and Ronnie are in a dark and hopeless place, the desire for freedom and happiness that prevents them from succeeding adults and the rest of society is reflected in each other, which is why they form a great friendship when the general arrives. Marion Giamatti pioneered a path for young people who are at risk but whose values are strengthened by the trauma that permeates their lives.

The authors

In Iron Shoes, Rafael Lindem writes a serious but positive story focused on the value of friendship and the search for a better world, feeding the current critical practice of shaping future and dystopian history, ideas and well. Costumes from other stories -like Edge of Tomorrow or even Mad Max-, but with problems from the past.

The fact that the story is set in the future allows Lindemann to include elements in the narrative that allow him to explore the characters in a more nuanced way, but without sacrificing the intensity of the narrative, the intensity and brutality of the action. In the case of Gimati, the decisions that the protagonists make to carry out their plans, despite the harm to other people.

Andres Garrido gives a superior interpretation of Lindem’s thoughts and lines, the strength of the story through style and vividness alone that can express the feelings and reactions of the characters. The use of color, which can be seen especially prominently in the more than twenty pages contained in Iron Shoes, further highlights this great art.

science fiction

A futuristic story that seems easy and fun at first glance, as criticism, government brutality and the struggle of the disadvantaged for a better future. It also reflects the devastating effects of the arms race. The focus on children highlights the suffering of displaced and forgotten children. The author gives voice to this isolated childhood, betting on his innocence to change the world one day. In short, it shows how the cruelty of the world affects the most vulnerable. The modern master.
