Zack Snyder wanted Leonardo DiCaprio as Lex Luthor
Zack Snyder’s DCEU’s Lex Luthor was played by Jesse Eisenberg, but the filmmaker had other notable actors in mind before casting him.
On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Zack Snyder confirmed that he spoke with Adam Driver about the role of Lex. In addition, he said that he was interested in Leonardo DiCaprio, so he asked if the Oscar winner liked the idea. We share your responses below.
“He thinks about it. In fact, he had a lot of good ideas just in the meeting. I think he finally said, ‘Oh, I don’t know.’
The legendary director said that one of his DC Universe’s greatest moments was DiCaprio’s idea.
He was the one who told me the idea of Superman fighting the Justice League at one point. I thought, ‘Oh, that’s great. I put that there,’ he said.
Although DiCaprio expressed some interest in the role during his meeting with Snyder, the actor may not have wanted to play Superman’s villain. Let’s remember that the star has never been drawn to superhero movies.
