Wizards of the Coast today begins launch events for Thundercross Outlaws, the latest collection of the world-famous Magic: The Gathering (MTG) trading card game. Introducing a new frontier where being bad is good. This collection attracts criminals from across the multiverse as they try to claim their fortune or die. Thundercross Outlaws will be available in full for MTG Arena on April 16th and will go on sale in physical form on April 19th.

While we eagerly await the arrival of Modern Horizons III, this version is great for trying out new combinations, new mechanics, and new creatures that love to commit crimes.

The legendary Oko Band

Welcome to Thundercross, an outlaw plane full of daring outlaws with twisted morals. It all begins when the mysterious Paths of the Omen open up, leading villains across the multiverse to new frontiers of opportunity.

The prize that all teams ruthlessly seek? Mag Taranu’s Treasure (“Chamber”). Oko, a wanderer, is gathering the most wanted bandits in the Multiverse, and his son Kellan must defeat them or join them.

Time to get out of the law!

Criminals abound in Thunder Crossing. Thus, creatures such as rascals, assassins, pirates, warlocks or mercenaries are referred to by the common term archetypes, “extractors”.

But that’s not the only new mechanic you should watch out for, mate: the most cunning criminals use the new conspiracy mechanic; Exile a face-up card to use in the later turn without paying its mana cost. For villains with a slightly more stealthy nature, the burst mechanic offers instant and spells that can be acquired for an additional cost.

Finally, an outlaw can’t ride off into the sunset without his mount. These can be activated with the new seeding mechanic; Tap any number of creatures a player controls with power equal to or greater than the mount’s value. They are saddled until the end of the turn, activating powerful additional abilities.

Crime rampages ride in Omenport!

In Thunder Crossing, outlaws clash with outlaws, and the winner doesn’t obey the rules; Whenever the player targets the opponent or their hand, permanents, spells, library, or graveyard, they are considered to have committed a crime. This mechanic is the basis of Ultimas Notiacia, a collection of image reprints intended exclusively for this collection. Players can find a Breaking News card in each game booster, with a chance to get a textured foil version in collector boosters.

What’s in the old room?

Teams from across the gang risk their lives to uncover The Vault, a small collection of Standard-legal cards in this set. Players who master the Vault’s contents will find 30 different Mythic Rare cards, displayed in eye-catching room frames and foil treatments.

The abundant wealth of the thunder crossing

Thundercrossing Outlaws includes a variety of cards with special treatment. Borderless Art Cards returns with a selection of cool and legendary rarities along with 10 special guests as part of the roster. Starring the most popular Thunder Crossing cards, they can be found in both game boosters and collector boosters.

In addition, to embrace the spirit of the frontier, Thunder Crossing’s exteriors feature stunning western-themed terrains that capture the core themes of this collection. Thunder Crossing may be crime-ridden, but the landscapes are inspiring.

Finally, we get the coveted poster treatment for some of the most popular characters in Thunder Crossing. These cards are exclusive to Oko’s team, the multiverse’s most popular villains: Vraska, Kellan, Annie Flash, Rakdos, and Tinybones, and are available in sets and collector boosters.

Magic: The Gathering: Thundercrossing Outlaws includes game boosters, collector boosters, commander decks, pre-release packs and bundles.
