The Lord of the Rings will have new movies, and it has been revealed which will be the first.

Variety by Warner Bros. Discovery shared some of the biggest announcements on its recent earnings call, including confirmation that the Lord of the Rings universe will expand. CEO David Zaslav has announced that the next film in the fantasy franchise, tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, will feature Andy Serkis as director and star. Furthermore, the project is expected to start in 2026.
On the other hand, Zazlav said the following about what they are preparing for the saga: “The Lord of the Rings is one of the most successful and respected franchises in history and offers a great opportunity for the theater business.” The new films explore stories that have yet to be told.
Peter Jackson will be involved as a producer on the new Lord of the Rings films, while Fran Walsh and Philip Boyens will write the script for the Golem-themed project.
