The X-Men bid farewell with one final adventure that will move an entire generation.

Marvel Studios has released the final trailer for ‘X-Men’97, the wait for X-Men fans is over as it kicks off the thrilling three-part conclusion. In this latest preview, a small but significant tribute (or critical nod) is paid to 20th Century Fox’s early film interpretations of the X-Men, particularly in costume.

The story has reached its final stage

The first chapter of this conclusion is entitled “Tolerance is the loss” this Wednesday. Following the dramatic recent events that saw us say goodbye to Gambit and Magneto, the stage is set for our dynamic heroes to face perhaps their biggest challenge yet. Invincible adversary Bastion begins his plan to start a war between humans and mutants, with the fearsome army of Supreme Sentinels.

In the newly released trailer, although it’s mostly scenes from past episodes, exciting previews of what’s to come are revealed. There’s no shortage of action and suspense, with Storm, Jubilee and Sunspot fleeing angry humans, Jean Gray showing off her incredible abilities, and the X-Jet escaping human-robot hybrids piloted by Bastion.

What awaits us

One of the film’s highlights is when Cyclops presents Cable with his own X-Men uniform, eliciting a heartbreaking reaction from the boy. Cable’s waiting for the “black leather” suit is a clear reference to the controversial costume choices of Fox’s X-Men movies, recalling the scene where Scott Summers asks Wolverine if he’s waiting for the “yellow spandex”.

Beau DeMayo, showrunner, took the opportunity on Twitter / X to recommend some classic episodes of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ before fans tune into the finale of ‘X-Men ’97’. Among them are “The Price of a Man”, “Sanctuary”, “The Descent” and “The Last Judgment”. Additionally, DeMayo recommends reading some of the comics that are essential to understanding the plot twists, though he keeps the titles to avoid spoilers.

Look at the characters that defined the generation

Going deeper into the characters that gave life to this series, Cyclops and Jean Gray stand out as the cornerstones of ‘X-Men ’97’. Ciclope, his unwavering leadership and laser vision, has always been above the man of optics; It is the tactical heart of the team. On the other hand, Jean shows not only her telepathic powers but also her strength as an emotional leader.

These characters not only reflect the power and complexity of mutants, but also serve as a mirror to the conflicts and challenges we face in our society. By comparing his evolution to that of other Marvel heroes, we can see a clear reflection of how they have changed heroic narratives by adapting old images to new audiences and modern contexts. This connection of Marvel’s past and present not only enriches the viewer’s experience, but also brings to life the essence of the X-Men: fighting for a world that fears and hates them.
