Selected to write the James Mangold project

Last year, Lucasfilm revealed that they were developing three new Star Wars films, The Mandalorian and Grog, which will be released in May 2026, a project starring Daisy Ridley, and Mangold’s film about the origins of the Jedi. Although we still have a long way to go to see new films in the saga, information related to these producers has been released quite a bit, such as news confirming who will write Mangold’s film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Bow Willimon has been tapped to write an Origins of the Jedi film. Willimon has previously worked with the Lucasfilm franchise, most notably writing three episodes of the acclaimed Disney+ series Andor. Additionally, the screenwriter has worked on Netflix’s House of Cards.

The project takes place 25,000 years before the events of New Hope, and shows the origin of the force.
