If Venom, Madame Web and Morbius have their own movie without Spiderman, why not Uncle Ben?

Cinema is art, no doubt about that, but everyone knows that if something makes money, every last drop will be extracted from it. There have been many cases of series or movies that have achieved tremendous success and wanted to push it to the limit by releasing sequels, prequels. The phenomenal success of Game of Thrones created a prequel to House of Dragons, the first season of which was unanimously acclaimed. But we must not forget that in the universe created by George RR Martin, up to six series have been announced. We’ll see if they all succeed or if they all end up leaving.

Sony is another clear example of getting the most out of its franchises. Let’s remember that the Japanese company has the rights to Spiderman. The Sam Raimi trilogy, Andrew Garfield’s Biolog and the PS4 and PS5 games are all works of Sony. At the time, Marvel and Sony had reached an agreement to introduce the character into the previous cinematic universe. This is how Homecoming, Away from Home and Homeless came about.

Seeing the huge success of the films, Sony wanted to create its own movie universe based on the secondary characters of the wall-crawler. The two Venom movies were the first of their kind and did nothing wrong. Later came Morbius, who failed and the strategy of the company was revealed, investing little and hoping to grow enough. Madam Web is another example. Even famous actors rejected the film. And it wouldn’t make much sense to make movies about Peter Parker-related characters without him. Let’s remember that a movie is being made about the character who appeared in two Spiderman comics.

That’s why some fans want to explain this situation to release movies with very secondary characters that are nothing more than failures at the box office. The character you chose is Ben Parker, Peter Parker’s uncle. A key character in the Spider-Man mythos but doesn’t have enough presence or interest to make a movie around him. The trailer, called Uncle Ben: Origins – A Spiderman Story, was created using AI by Mike Fink and you can watch it on YouTube. In the video, he openly pokes fun at the exploitation of franchises in Hollywood, referring to Batman or Superman.
