Magic: The Gathering is heating up with The Wild Lands of Eldraine, a new playable edition that brings back popular mechanics and card types.

After breaking all sales records for a single trading card, the unique ring is back in the news with a new playable version dubbed Wilds of Eldraine, which sold for $2.8 million. A fantasy world based on fairy tales

The edition will be based on classic fairy tales, but with the usual twist of the card game and adapting the strategies to the game. At the time, ‘Throne of Eldrain’ had a huge impact on the metagame, forcing him to revise several of his cards. But let’s go with the theme ‘The Wilds of Eldraine’.
Eldrain Wildlife Lore and History
Gone are those glorious times when the good High King ruled in peace and harmony. The recent Phyrexian invasion of Eldrain’s plane has caused devastating destruction to its cities, castles, and people. High King Kenrith and Queen Linden died in this battle, but powerful magical beings withstood the siege. Talion, the ruler of the fairies, joins forces with three powerful wizards to create a Haunted Sleep spell that puts the invaders to sleep. But like any spell, the price was very expensive, and this spell affects the inhabitants of the plane, spreading like a disease.
The sons of the High King, Will and Rowan, find themselves in a difficult situation as they cannot unite to attack the kingdom back. No one will obey the will of the king, who has not passed the great quest of the required beast. No matter how noble a will is, it is not a knight of the five courts of the kingdom, something he has not earned. Rowan, on the other hand, constantly pursues his short-fuse reputation, causing more fear than being honest about his actions. Faced with this situation, the haunted dream spell spread continuously throughout the kingdom.
Desperate, Rowan embarks on a journey through Eldrain to find a solution. This is when young Kelan, whose father was a fairy, enters the scene. After meeting Talion with the fairy ruler, he accepts the mission of defeating the three witches to break the abduction dream. As soon as he begins his mission, he is joined by Ruby (based on the Little Red Riding Hood), who is his most valuable partner in the mission. Hungry Agatha is the first witch, who is very reminiscent of the witch from the fairy tale ‘Hansel and Gretel’.
Back in Rowan, he continues his search, which leads him to the ruins of his father’s old castle. Inside, she is forced to fight an army of sleeping knights controlled by an otherworldly being: Ashiok. Next to him is Erite, the most coveted of the witch sisters. Since Rowan and Will are her nephews, his encounter with this witch reveals important plot information. And not only that, but she was the one who used Talion’s desperation to cast the Haunted Dream spell to control all of Eldrain. Rowan is eventually tricked into becoming an heiress by her aunt and abandons her search for a solution.
Meanwhile, Keelan and Ruby find out where the second witch is after she shows herself to the magic mirror. Indeed, mirror glass, from ‘Snow White’. In their quest, they arrive at the ice palace where the ice witch ruler ‘Hilda’ resides. ‘Hilda’, repentant of her sister’s evil deeds, surrenders her crown, breaking the ice curse. Here’s the only thing left to find out when the full story of ‘The Wildlands of Eldrain’ arrives, which we’ll get from September 8th.
Return strategies and new mechanics
“Aura Roles” is one of the mechanics of the new version, which is a token magic with different effects attached to the creature. They are thematic symbols that count as magic.
“Trading” or “bargaining” is another new mechanic that activates different cards’ abilities or actions, sacrificing an artifact, token, or enchantment to make it happen. One of the most attractive mechanics as it adds different strategies for the same card.
The “adventure” mechanics return and the “sagas” continue, thus turning the ‘wildlands of Eldrain’ into a version that has different strategies that can combine all these mechanics. Some of the new adventures feature the new “Aura Roles” and “Negotiation” mechanics. As a new feature, there will be multi-colored adventures that combine with each other to have a devastating effect on the opponent.

There will be special resources for collectors
To top it all off, for all collectors, Wizards of the Coast continues to offer exclusive collectible cards, from anime versions to textless lands and full art. The first look at these cards makes them one of the most coveted in the issue. As if that wasn’t enough, there will be a new textured foil version, called Confetti, that will make these cards more economical in the market. There will be no shortage of classic Borderless treatments, with some cards and artistic versions such as Adventures now available.
