DC Studios head James Gunn has dismissed some of the rumors about Superman, as well as shared the identity of the film’s main villain.
Who will be the enemy to defeat?
In Threads , Gunn confirmed that Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is unsurprisingly the main villain of the upcoming Iron Man movie.
“The main character of Superman is the amazing Superman. Superman’s main villain is, ironically, Lex Luthor. I don’t know where all that extra stuff came from. There are so many stories coming out every day that it’s hard to keep up with them and every time I hit something I pay attention. So, I repeat, don’t believe anything unless you see it here (and why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?)”
Rumors have mentioned characters like Brainiac, Mongul, and Ultraman while also mentioning the main villain. So, these reports were already dismissed when they learned that the DCU movie would feature Lex Luthor as the central antagonist.
The DC Universe movie hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
