Acolyte takes place during the era of the Hyrian Republic, and we get to see Jedi legend Vernestra.

Acolyte is the first live-action Star Wars film from the era known as The High Republic. This period is the golden age of the Republic and the Jedi Order, something seen in the trailer featuring many Jedi with multi-colored lightsabers. Among the Jedi that appear, we have to highlight the character who is seen opening a door with the Force. This character is Vernestra Rwoh, a familiar Jedi to those who have read the books and comics.

Vernestra Rwoh and Star Wars

Rwoh is one of the main characters of the High Republic novels and comics. He was the Padawan of Stellan Gios, another main and very important character in the order. Like her master, Rwoh was a very serious person, but the most impressive thing about her was that she was intelligent at the age of 15, being the youngest Jedi Knight in ages.

Such was her Padawan’s maturity and talent not long after her promotion. The Jedi played an important role during the crisis with Nihil, proving once again that she is one of the greatest Jedi in a long time.

Something worth noting about the character is that he has a very unique lightsaber in French. After dreaming up a new design for the saber, Rwoh transformed it into a simple whip, a rare and dangerous weapon among the Jedi.

In The Acolyte it is shown that she is no longer a teenager, Vernestra is shown as an adult. It’s unclear what her role will be, but we can assume that in time she will ascend to Jedi Master and become part of the Council, the order’s highest hierarchy. In addition, her appearance is very different from the one shown in the comics, perhaps the years of fighting have had a profound effect on the personality of the Jedi, so we can see a very different Vernestra in the series.

Fans may have wanted to portray the character to tie the series to the events told in the High Republic books and comics.
