Golden Axe

The 80s video game legend Golden Ax is set to be revived with an all-star cast and a modern comedic twist.

From dusty Sega cartridges to the small screen, Golden Ax has been transformed into a motion picture that promises plenty of laughs and adventure. This adaptation, which airs on Comedy Central, brings the wonderful universe of the 1989 game with a new and contemporary touch.

A combination of talent and humor

The series is being executive produced by Mike McMahan, known for Rick and Morty, and Joe Chandler of Solar Opposites. The dynamic duo not only co-wrote the first episode, but Chandler also serves as showrunner.

His voice acting is a brilliant blend of talent and charisma. Matthew Rhys voices Julius Thunderhead. On his side, Danny Pudi plays Hampton Squib, a fledgling adventurer.

Lisa Gilroy, who plays Tyrese Flair, promises to portray her witch with magical powers and verbal dexterity. Liam McIntyre will be Ax Butler, a brutal patriot whose heart of gold shines more than his intelligence. And we can’t forget Carl Tart, who becomes Chronos “Evil” Lait, a human panther who, despite declaring himself to be completely “badass”, fails at trying to be cool.

plot and production

The plot re-immerses us in the fight to save Uria from the evil death of Adair, who seems to have a serious problem of staying in the afterlife. On this occasion, our veteran warriors will have the “help” of Hampton Squib, whose inexperience will be the source of many challenges and jokes.

Ax Battler is not just a brutal fighter; The golden ax is the soul. Known for his status and nobility, Ax represents the essence of honor in a world full of danger and dark magic. His journey from video games to the animated screen is a journey that promises to explore not only his physical strength, but also his emotional depth. In an environment rife with often malevolent and brutal power, his compassionate and protective approach to his allies and missions adds complexity to the series.

Compared to other characters from the animated series, such as He-Man or Conan the Barbarian, Ax stands out for his friendly nature and unwavering loyalty. This Comedy Central animated series could set a new standard for action heroes, combining humor, adventure and the heart of a true hero in a format accessible to a new generation of fans.
