The first images of The Bride, a new version of Frankenstein set in 1930s Chicago, have been revealed.

The bride! It is directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and the cast includes stars such as Christian Bale, Annette Bening, Jessie Buckley, Penelope Cruz, Julianne Hough and Peter Sarsgaard. Now that production has started filming, Maggie herself has shared the first images from the project.
In one of them, Buckley looks unrecognizable, wearing a wig and a black mark on his cheek. However, the most surprising feature is Bale’s appearance, as it shows the actor giving life to a new Frankenstein’s monster.
