Summary
The super space-time race in Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission is bigger than the race for power. The tournament features teams from alternate timelines, bringing together a variety of characters including the Forgotten, such as Ninja Murasaki and General White. The tournament features unexpected pairings like Jiren and Broly and highly anticipated battles, making it a must-see for fans despite being canon.
The Tournament of Power Arc was one of the most anticipated sagas in Dragon Ball history. With dozens of multi-powered fighters promising an all-out battle royale, fans were on the edge of their seats as Goku and company battled to the finish. Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission decided to emulate that hype and success with an even grander competition: the Super Space-Time Tournament.
Although the name is a bit of a mouthful, Super Space-Time Race has a surprisingly simple premise. There are twelve teams with seven team members each. The teams were chosen from alternate timelines rather than separate universes, which resulted in characters from different universes being on the same team.
Most of the Z fighters are in Team 1 which consists of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Yamcha, Jiren and Hit. But these familiar faces are just the tip of the iceberg as a super space-time race delves into Dragon Ball history to find its warriors.
The super space-time race is more than a power race
Other teams that are part of the Super Space-Time Race bring some forgotten and movie-exclusive characters. Even characters from the lower ranks of the Red Ribbon Army, such as Ninja Murasaki and General White, are present in this tournament. . Other fighters participating in the tournament include Jinyu’s Force, Lord Slug’s Force, Babdi’s Henchmen, and Garlic’s Jr. Spice Boys.
The Super Space-Time Tournament is undoubtedly one of the scariest events in Dragon Ball history. The winner of the competition is promised “godly rewards” and the losers have their timelines erased as in a power contest. In addition to the forgotten characters, the Warriors also took on several alternate timeline versions, such as Team 2’s “Xeno” versions. Both Frieza and Mecha Frieza are also present in various teams, and GT characters such as Super 17 are also featured. The narrator of the series expands the story of Dragon Ball by giving the exact number: 76,434,925,761.
The super space-time race called for everything from a race for power to allowing for unexpected pairings between characters who don’t have much in common. The most notable are the two-man teams of Jiren and Yamcha, classic Gohan and Piccolo, and even Universe 6’s Hit and Pan. The tournament wasted no time in giving fans the answer to one of the most talked about matches in Dragon Ball history as Jiren went head-to-head against Broly in the much-anticipated battles. Despite the dubious canon of the Super Space-Time Tournament, it’s okay with time travel at work at this level, and it’s a real treat for all Dragon Ball fans.
