After The Great Mutant Event, Panini Comics published The X Realm, the next chapter in the Jonathan Hickman era of Krakow.

Panini continues to publish The Age of Krakow, compiled by Jonathan Hickman. After the mega-event X of Swords comes Realm of X, the new saga in Marvel Comics’ mutant utopia. While Hickman was the mastermind behind the original series, in this volume we see how other great writers and artists like Phil Noto, Stephen Segovia, Zeb Wells, Leah Williams, David Baldwin, Valerio Shitti and Al Ewing are involved with their own series. .

Beyond the stars

After X of Swords, after a great war in another world, Apocalypse left Krakoan, Arakon, the other half of the mutant island returned. The great conflict has already ended, but the conflict is full of results in different directions.

State of x

After conquering even death, the nation of Krakow and its inhabitants look to their next great realm: space. From artists like Al Ewing, Valerio Shitti and more, comes the new incarnation of SWORD, this time under the control of Kraków Nation Mutants. Abigail Brand is the new station commander, while Magento appears as the Council’s representative at the larger station. This verse acts as an introduction to the new organization and its goals are far from the stars in the sky.

Back on Earth, Jonathan Hickman is in charge of the X-Men series, where we take a closer look at the aftermath of X of Swords. In the past, Krakoa and Arako created the same creature, but even if the latter returned to Earth, many times the difference caused both to be created differently, so it seems that they will not merge again. Additionally, the Arakko mutants form a separate society from the Krakoans, potentially causing conflict between the two. While the Silent Council needs to find new members, Cyclops and Jean Gray look for new candidates to form the X-Men.

This volume also brings us secondary mutant series like X-Factor and Infernales. In The X-Factor, a series of mutant killings are investigated and the complications in resurrection protocols after the Great Mutant Incident are explored. The two issues of The Infernales, commanded by Mr. Sinister, focus on the aftermath of X of Swords, where the team has a potentially apocalyptic mission if things go wrong. In addition to the mission, the concept of the Resurrection Protocol is further expanded and more mysteries are created in this curious group, especially in Nani and Kriorphanos.

The first volume of X Emperor leaves a good taste in the mouth after the great mutant crossover, with many potential stories that could explore new concepts in a mutant world. This volume serves as a precursor to what is to come. Moreover, although it is clear that they are different series due to the art department, the different stories provide a high quality picture.

Note that, even though this is the first edition of the collection, it can be very difficult to understand much of what happens without having read anything about Hickman’s Age of Krakoa. For those who are current with the Marvel Mutant Universe, you will find the contents of this volume very satisfying.

Panini Comics X 1 Edition Rule

This volume arrives from Panini Comics in the usual Marvel Premiere format. Dust jackets without paper, measuring 17 x 26 cm and containing 152 pages. This volume will appear in SWORD 1, X-Men 16, volume. All this for the price of €13.00.

The X 1 Empire is a promising start to a new era of mutants on Krakow. Although the volume serves as an introduction to the various stories that run in parallel, it suggests that the mutants have yet to reach their full potential and that their goal is in the stars. Even so, they still have earthly problems to solve and many secrets and hidden plans. A promising start, perhaps a lack of momentum, but the entire history of the Krakow era suggests that the journey continues.
