EA Motive - Iron man

Find out what EA Motive has planned for the next Iron Man game, a project that promises to mark the before and after.

Here comes the shocking news for your latest generation consoles. Looking for more heroes in your life? Well, EA Motive is coming to solve it with a great Iron Man game. And yes, we’re talking about a solo title that makes us feel like Tony Stark. Curious? Join me on this journey of steel and circuit.

A year after the announcement

While we’re all freaking out over the arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, EA Motive General Manager Patrick Klaus decided to take to the stage. The reason is none other than telling what will be his biggest project to date. It’s nothing more and nothing less than the only Iron Man game still in the early stages of pre-production.

Patrick Klaus is excited and confident about using Unreal Engine 5 for this project, saying it will allow the team to “work its magic and create something truly unique.” Come on, get ready for a riot of graphic quality and playability.

Since it was announced a year ago, the development of this game is surrounded by hermetic secrecy. But we do know that the studio is working on an original narrative that explores the richness of Iron Man’s character, allowing us to experience the complexity, charisma and creativity of Tony Stark.

Why is Iron Man so cool?

Now that we’ve told you about the upcoming Iron Man video game, let’s take a look at why Tony Stark is a character that lends itself well to video games. For starters, Tony isn’t just a guy in cool armor; He is a genius larger than life personality. If we’re talking about a video game, this translates to a lot of potential for the story and game mechanics. Think puzzle-style mini-games where your choices affect your interactions with characters in the Marvel Universe as Tony invents a new gadget or conversation mechanic.

And let’s talk about armor, which is not small. Each has its own characteristics, which means different play styles or abilities that can be unlocked in the game. We’ve seen in the movies how things change when Tony wears the Hulkbuster instead of his regular suit. Consider being able to choose from different types of armor in the game, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. We are not only talking about an action game, but also an experience that will make you feel like a real armor engineer.

Form a fan council.

The best part is that they don’t want to act blindly. EA has created a community council made up of Iron Man and Marvel fans, who will help provide feedback throughout the development process. Raise your hand if you want to be a member of that council, because that sounds like an honor.

The studio responsible for the development is Motive Studios in Montreal. Taking the reins is Olivier Proulx, already experienced in superheroes, having worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Although it’s still far off the horizon, one thing is certain: this title won’t be a “gaming as a service” that will be a relief to many. Forums? That’s still up in the air, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the next generations of consoles beyond the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
