Ryan Reynolds Presents Strange Proposal to Marvel Studios President for Deadpool and Wolverine

The main idea for the third installment of Deadpool has been revealed.

Ryan Reynolds’ strange idea

Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with Empire about Deadpool and Wolverine, revealing some interesting details related to the film’s creative process. The actor stated that the project will be very different from what was originally completed.

“Deadpool 3 is like a Rashomon story about Wolverine and Deadpool and what they get together, but told from three completely different perspectives. “It was a way to make a large-scale film in a very small form.”

As expected, Feige didn’t believe in this Marvel Cinematic Universe movie proposal.

“The truth is, I still wasn’t sure how to incorporate Deadpool. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to combine Mutants and X-Men, and I thought it should be more than just playing the hits. But the truth is, Ryan is a thought machine. So what was presented may have been discarded, but it gave me 25 other ideas and thoughts.

Reynolds himself confirmed what Feige said: “I went back to the drawing board and wrote about 18 different treatments. Some of them were like Sundance movies on a budget of less than $10 million, using the intellectual property in ways I hadn’t used before, and I’d also pitched bigger films and stuff in between.

After many ideas, the perfect version of Deadpool and Wolverine was finally achieved after hiring Hugh Jackman, as explained by the film’s executive producer Wendy Jacobson.

“We definitely turned around to find the reason for this movie. Once Hugh got his hands on it, two months later we were on set. To be honest, it was one of the fastest turnarounds I’ve ever seen.”

Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
