Chris Pratt isn’t ruling out the possibility of staying at Marvel and exploring new horizons with DC.
Chris Pratt, the charismatic actor behind Star-Lord in the Galaxy franchise, is immersing himself in the DC universe and opened up about returning to his iconic role. In a career marked by versatility and charm, Pratt finds himself at a fascinating crossroads that could see him shine in two of cinema’s biggest superhero houses.
The inevitable farewell and hope for the future
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is conceived as the final part of the saga, at least in the near future. However, the ending not only provided emotional closure, but also planted the seeds for future adventures. A look at the post-credits scene reveals a new formation of Guardians led by Rocket Raccoon, and hints at a possible solo adventure for Star-Lord, as Peter Quill returns to Earth to reunite with his grandfather.
James Gunn, executive producer of the series and soon-to-be CEO of DC Studios, commented on the announcement that “The Legendary Star-Lord Returns.” Although at the time there were temporary plans to drive with a focus on adapting to life on Earth, conditions have changed a lot since then.
A bridge between Marvel and DC
Gunn has expressed interest in involving the GOTG cast in the DC Cinematic Universe (DCU), leading to speculation that Pratt may have a role in this new arena. In an interview with ComicBook while promoting the Garfield movie, the actor was asked which would be more likely: turning down his star-lord role or switching sides in the DCU.
Pratt, always enigmatic, suggested the possibility of doing both. “Well, maybe it would make more sense for him to remain a Star-Lord. But anything is possible, especially now that James is in DC. Maybe there is something suitable there. What about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both,” he said with a smile.
Although Pratt seems like a bit of a player in the end, it’s wise to not comment on his return as Peter Quill or a new role in the DCU. However, these types of statements open up an interesting debate about the future and the cinematographic universes they may enter.
