With the departure of Adam Wingard, the Godzilla x Kong sequel is in the hands of a new creative team.

The MonsterVerse cinematic universe continues to expand, but it does so without one of its latest pillars. Adam Wingard, “Godzilla Vs. Kong” in 2021 and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” will not return for the sequel this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wingard will focus on his new debut project “Onslaught” in collaboration with A24.

Farewell to the MonsterVerse

The director who brought us two of the most epic clashes between the titans has bid farewell to focus on new challenges for the MonsterVerse. After the success of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures decided to continue with the franchise, but this time Wingard was not at the helm. The news comes at a time when fans are basking in the box office performance and the legend of these iconic characters.

Although Wingard did not return, the project was shelved. Dave Callaham, best known for his work on “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has been hired to write the upcoming film. With no release date yet, fans can expect Callaham to bring his style and freshness to the next chapter of the Titanic saga.

The new state continues to grow.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” continues to explore the rich history of these titans and their relationship with humanity. The film will reveal a deeper Skull Island and other mysteries about the origins of Kong and Godzilla. This episode was crucial in expanding the universe and setting the stage for future conflicts and alliances.
