The end of the second season of The Mandalorian left Star Wars fans with many questions and the surprise of the destruction of the Dark Saber
That season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ has been one of the hottest topics in ‘Star Wars’ fandom. The season finale left fans with many questions, the main one being why Moff Gideon he had destroyed the Dark Saber, an iconic weapon in Mandalorian culture.
In a recent interview, the actress told Katee Sackhoffwho plays Bo-Katan Kryze in the series, revealed why the destruction of the saber is necessary for Mandalore’s future in ‘The Mandalorian’ and in the saga.
The meaning of the dark saber in Star Wars
The destruction of the weapon, which is essential to Mandalore culture, upset many followers, but the actress has added fuel to the fire by ensuring that the dark saber was only “a trinket” it had caused Bo-Katan and the Mandalorians to lose sight of what really matters.
Sackhoff:
“So I think that Bo and the Mandalorian people have become obsessed with a trinket, for lack of a better word. That they’ve lost sight, she’s lost sight of what really matters to her people and to her people”
The Mandalorian had already planned the destruction of the Saber
Sackhoff revealed that the destruction of the Saber was planned from the beginning and it was necessary for Bo-Katan and the Mandalorians to have a fresh start with the right leader at the helm. The character learned the importance of having the right leader and wonders if she led because it was the best choice or because her lineage forced her to.
Sackhoff:
“That has always been the plan. It was in the script, so we knew what was going on, and I think I was kind of like, ‘Excuse me, what are you doing?’ But it’s one of those things where I think in order for Bo and the Mandalorians to have a fresh start, the right leader has to lead, no matter what they own, you know what I mean?
With the weapon destroyed, the Mandalorians are finally able to unite for the first time in over 1,000 years. This means they can rebuild their civilization and reclaim their heritage. The destruction was therefore necessary for the Mandalorians to move forward and create a better future for their people.
