Marvel surprises with the trailer for the third season of What if…?which will premiere in December, introducing new heroes and unexpected alliances
A look at the trailer for season three
Against eight confirmed episodesthis season will start airing next time December 22nd. The new trailer, part of the series’ final promotional stretch, delivers unpublished images which have left fans speculating about the direction of these alternate MCU stories.
Among the highlights, the trailer reveals the appearance of Storm wielding the Mjölnirwhich marks his MCU debut, and an alternate version of Riri Williams as Superior Ironheartwhich appears to be inspired by the famous Superior Iron Man storyline from the comics.
Another episode promises to team between the Winter Soldier and the Red Guardianwhile one of the most intriguing stories shows us the Watcher collaborating with the Celestials. However, the highlight of the trailer is a multiversal story in which Sam Wilson leads a team of new Avengersincluding Monica Rambeau, Moon Knight and other MCU heroes.
New versions of iconic characters
The trailer is accompanied by an official description of the season:
“Season 3 follows classic characters as they make unexpected decisions, transforming their worlds into spectacular alternate versions of the MCU.”
Los key voice actors return to bring these characters to life, including Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, David Harbor as the Red Guardian, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk Yes Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.
They also add Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, Kumail Nanjiani as the King, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Seth Green as Howard el Pato, Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster, Dominique Thorne as Ironheart, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Hailee Steinfeld as Hawkeye, Chris Hemsworth as Thor Yes Tom Hiddleston as Lokiamong others.
In which episodes will we see? What if…? season 3?
While Marvel is keeping some details under wraps, the trailer and leaks hint at a wide range of stories which will explore everything from epic battles to never-before-seen alliances. Some expected episodes are:
- Storm with Mjolnir: exploring how the universe would have changed if the X-Men’s Storm had been worthy of wielding Thor’s hammer.
