Warner Bros. Discovery wants to become one of the largest entertainment entities thanks to the possible integration
A new report claims Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global are in talks to discuss a possible merger.
A promising combination
Both Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global are companies created through a recent merger. The company, headed by David Zaslav, was formed by the 2022 merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery, and Paramount Global was formed by the 2019 merger between CBS Corporation and Viacom.
According to Axios, Paramount Global’s Bob Bakish and Warner Bros.’ David Zaslav met on December 19 to discuss a possible merger between the two companies. We should be clear that Warner’s stake will be more important in the deal, as the company is worth $29 billion, while Paramount Global is only worth $10 billion.
If the merger takes place, we will witness the birth of a powerful entertainment entity. Warner Bros. It owns Discovery DC, HBO, CNN Worldwide, TNT Sports and HBO Max, while Paramount Global owns BET, VH1, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, CMT., Paramount Network, Showtime and the Paramount+ platform.
Although this association seems to be a very positive thing, many have doubts after seeing how David Zaslav managed the discovery of Warner Bros. However, it is too early to think about that, and we have to wait until more information is released about the discussions between the executives of both companies.
