Storm and Killmonger revolutionize Africa in the final episode of Ultimate Black Panther.

In the vast and mysterious continent of Africa, a new heroic chapter is being written in the colors of freedom and struggle. Ultimate Black Panther introduces us to never-before-seen freedom fighters: Storm and Erik Killmonger. This dynamic duo first appeared on the cover of Ultimate Black Panther #3, illustrated by Stefano Caselli, marking a major milestone in the Marvel Universe.

Icons of freedom

Series writer Brian Hill, along with the talented Caselli, takes us to Earth-6160, where Storm and Killmonger have stepped away from their usual roles and emerged as heroes in the fight for freedom. Debuting in Ultimate Black Panther #1, this pair defy convention and express heroism on the continent of Africa.

Marvel has revealed Peach Momoko’s character designs, hinting at an aesthetic where the modern and tribal merge. Inspired by tribal costumes from around the world, Momoko brings her unique soul and vision to Storm and Killmonger, giving them a new light and celebrating their inner selves.

In this third episode, the conflict between Wakanda and Moon Knight reaches its peak. Wakanda is overrun and the spies spread across the continent undergo a radical change when these two freedom fighters arrive. Taking matters into his own hands, Black Panther goes on a secret mission to confront Ra’s and Honshu directly, adding more depth to an already heavy plot.

Marvel’s new ultimate universe

Ultimate Black Panther is one of three sequels that began in 2024 as part of the new Ultimate Universe. The Ultimate Spider-Man series by Jonathan Hickman and Marco Cecchetto, and the Ultimate X-Men by Momoko, will accompany this new vision of Black Panther, hoping for unprecedented narrative and visual richness.

I admire ethnic costumes from all over the world,” Momoko commented. “Combining the modern with the ethnic, the beautiful with the strong is something that has always fascinated me. When designing for Storm and Killmonger, I wanted to honor the characters and bring my soul and unique perspective.
