Tom Felton, best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter saga, has jumped into science fiction with The Changeling.

Actor Tom Felton is set to lead the cast of Altered, a major action sci-fi film with a budget of $15 million. Starring Richard Brake (Game of Thrones, The Barbarian), Igor Jijikin (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Aggy Adams (The Witcher) and Lisa Bagulova, Felton enters a world full of temptations and justice.

A promising plot

In an alternate reality where the majority of the population has undergone genetic modification, two brave natives, Leon (Felton) and Chloe (Bugulova), are drawn into the fight for justice in a society characterized by genetic diversity and corrupt politicians.

Timo Vuorensola, the Finnish filmmaker behind the “Iron Sky” saga and directing recent films such as “Jeepers Creepers: Rebirth” and “97 Minutes” with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin. Vuorensola wants to present both entertainment and deep themes in this new project. According to the director: “I wanted to make a film that allowed fun and expressive themes to flourish. “Science fiction is always a good tool to provide an outside perspective on our society and to look at problems from a different perspective.”

A dystopian future

The film is set in an alternative scenario where scientific advances bring radical change to humanity. Genetic modifications have created a physically superior elite, but those who have not made these changes face constant discrimination. The protagonists, Leon and Chloe, represent the latter, fighting not only for survival but also for justice in an unbalanced world.

Igor Zhigkin, who has participated in such productions as “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, contributes with his commanding presence and acting skills. Aggie Adams and Lisa Bagulova, though little known, complement Filton in this futuristic adventure, bringing freshness and dynamism to the classics.

Vuorensola is no stranger to controversial topics and complex plots. The approach in Altered is not only to provide action and spectacular views, but also to invite the viewer to reflect on ethical and social issues. The duality between entertainment and thematic depth is a special feature of the filmmaker, which he combines in his previous works and promises to go to a new level in this film.

The mix of strong casting, intriguing plot and Vuorensola’s visual direction create high expectations.
