It was a lot of fun to be able to contribute!”
Aaron John Gregory, head of Godzilla product development, said of the upcoming issue: “Allowing IDW to ‘kill’ Godzilla in just six issues of the new Kai-sei Era series shows how much TOHO International trusts rock-star writer Tim Seeley and Eisner-winning Godzilla editor Jake Williams. buy a copy of Superman #75, The Death of Superman, and was blown away by the brutality that resulted in these pages. I can tell you that the incredible team behind our new Kai-Sei era of Godzilla delivered on this level; with all the electrifying excitement and hard-hitting panache you’ve come to expect from this series. You might need a kaiju-sized Kleenex.
The current Godzilla The series is just one of several series recently released by IDW Publishing as part of its Kai-Sei era. With Godzilla: Escape the Dead Zone by writers Ethan S. Parker and Griffic Sheridan and artist Pablo Tunica, and Godzilla Ship by writer Chris Gooch and artist Oliver Ono, Godzilla helped initiate a whole new wave of interest in the character, not to mention several new forms of Godzilla himself. Speaking to CBR in May, IDW Publishing editor-in-chief Jake Williams promised fans that, despite all the changes, the publisher’s Godzilla is “still the same monstrous force of nature that fans have been watching on screen for decades.”
Godzilla Issue #6 will go on sale January 7, 2026 from IDW Publishing.
