Fan favorite Robin, who many fans consider the greatest to take on the role, will finally get his due on the big screen. Batman: Knightfall screenwriter Jeremy Adams recently confirmed who Robin will be in the upcoming animated film.

Responding to a fan on social media (via X) who was concerned that DC would replace Tim Drake with Damian Wayne in the cartoon Knight’s Fall adaptation, Adams wrote: “No bro. It’s old school Tim. He’s so good in it.” Created by Marv Wolfman and Pat Broderick, Tim Drake first appeared in 1989. Batman #436 as the third character to take on the role of Batman’s crime-fighting partner and sidekick, Robin, after Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Adams’ confirmation that Tim Drake will be the Robin in Batman: Knightfall means the film will likely be a faithful adaptation of the source material, since the comic book storyline takes place just months after the character assumed the mantle of the Boy Wonder.

The official logline for Batman: Knightfall reads: “When the mysterious monster known only as Bane releases Batman’s entire Rogue Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point. » Jeff Wamester directs Part 1: Knightfallbased on Adams’ screenplay. Wamester is no stranger to DC Animation, having previously held the director’s chair for Justice Society: World War II, Green Lantern: Beware of My Power, Legion of Superheroes, Justice League: Warworldand the three parts Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths adaptation. Rick Morales serves as supervising producer alongside producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau, with Sam Register and Michael Uslan serving as executive producers.

Knightfall will be the next Batman film

Following the delay of The Batman Part II, Knight’s Fall will be the next major Batman film that fans will be able to see. Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel to 2022’s The Batman was originally supposed to hit theaters on October 3, 2025, meaning fans would have already seen the next installment in Robert Pattinson’s tenure as the Dark Knight. Unfortunately, delays in the script led to the film’s release date being pushed back several times, with the sequel now scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Filming is expected to begin in spring 2026 at Warner Bros. Studios. Leavesden in England.
