The second season of Severance would have wiped out virtually all of its production company’s profits

Even if Severance fans think that everything is happy when it comes to news related to the Apple TV+ series, the truth is that this production has gone through quite a few problems

A new report claims that the budget for Severance season 2 has far exceeded its initial cost.

Season 2 of Severance was a headache

Matthew Belloni took to his What I’m Hearing podcast to reveal that Season 5 saw much of its profits wiped out by the high production costs of the acclaimed thriller. The journalist pointed out that various problems during the development of the second season include discarded sets, changed parts of the plot and other external elements, including COVID-19 and the writers’ and actors’ strikes of 2023.

It is known that after the problems, Beau Willimon was hired as the new showrunner to assist in the production. Belloni claims his sources told him so Apple transferred between 20 and 25 million dollars more per episode a Fifth season to continue production.

This information would tell us that it is unlikely that Season 5 will be able to generate profits with the second season Separation. Apple and Fifth Season declined to respond to questions related to this report.
