The news that Toei Animation will stop airing the One Piece anime for such a long time has caused quite a stir.
For days it was announced that huge news related to the One Piece anime was about to arrive. After some speculations, the news came to light, Toei animationthe Japanese studio in charge of adapting Eichiro Oda’s work has decided to pause the Straw Hat series for six months. The last episode before this break will air on October 20th. The anime returns in April 2025.
Even if it had already happened that there were no chapters of One Piece for a few weeks, this always happened for exceptional reasons or because it was a holiday in Japan. The series of Luffy and the company had never had a six-month hiatus. Although Toei did not provide any explanation for this decision, The reason could be that they want to improve the quality of the adaptation, which is why they need this break.
On the one hand it is logical that to do a better job they need time to be able to generate higher quality animations, but it is also surprising. The last chapters of the anime showed a visual quality well above the average of the adaptation, for a long time the anime had a somewhat questionable level. TOEven though the quality of the last few weeks has been fantastic, we would have to see how long it would last, given that we are talking about a series that has been airing weekly for more than twenty-five years.
While many fans regret going six months without new chapters, that doesn’t mean they’ll stop getting their weekly dose of One Piece. During these months, remastered episodes of various narrative arcs of the Straw Hats will be broadcast. The One Piece anime is available on crunchyroll and Netflix.
