Transformers producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has confirmed that the franchise’s promised crossover with GI Joe is still in the works.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Di Bonaventura was asked how production of the crossover was going, to which the producer sadly replied that he didn’t know. Although it seems like bad news, the truth is that there is a new update on the project, because Di Bonaventura confirms that they will fulfill their promise to make the film. His exact words when answering the question were: “I really don’t know. I know we will keep our promises.

Recall that a direct reference to the GI Joe organization was made in the final episode of Transformers: Beasts Awakening where Anthony Ramos’ character was invited to join this special operations unit.

The future of the franchise

Paramount is currently producing the Saga film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, best known for his work on Blue Beetle. The studio has also been working on the Transformers franchise since 1986, the first animated film of these characters.
