From heroes to villains, these are the characters that tested fans’ patience in Dragon Ball Super
In the vast universe of Dragon Ball SuperAkira Toriyama’s saga expands with new gods, transformations and an intriguing multiverse. This episode adds modern dimensions to the iconic series, integrating both the best and worst of its features. However, not all of the new characters were well received by fans. Some of them, in fact, have been classified as particularly irritating. Below we will explore who they are and why they have generated so much controversy.
Goku and a copy of Frieza
Goku, who has been the heart of the series since the beginning, seems to be regressing Dragon Ball Superpresenting a more childish and less endearing side. Despite her strength and moments of inspiration, her innocence turns into a clumsiness that interferes with the plot, causing frustration among followers. This contrast is evident in key moments like the Tournament of Power and his inexplicable decision to recruit enemies like Frieza or give a Senzu Bean to Moro.
In the Tournament of Power, Universe 6’s Frost appears as an altruistic version of Frieza. However, it is soon discovered that he is just as malevolent as his Universe 7 counterpart. His character, far from being intriguing, ends up being a tired and less impactful repetition, generating little more than contempt among viewers.
An uncharismatic brother and Arale
Champa, the god of destruction of Universe 6 and Beerus’ twin brother, fails to match his brother’s charisma and presence. We often see him involved in frivolous arguments which, far from adding depth to his character, relegate him to a rather comical and unconvincing role.
Although Arale Norimaki’s Doctor Slump Appearing in only a couple of episodes, her chaotic energy and ability to dominate main characters like Goku and Vegeta make her a source of exasperation for many, drawing attention away from the true heroes of the series.
Galactic ineptitude and an insufferable God of Destruction
Jaco, the galactic policeman, although well-intentioned, is often overcome by fear and inaction, becoming more of a comic relief than a reliable hero during the series’ critical moments.
Among the Gods of Destruction, Quitela of Universe 4 is considered the most annoying, showing little compassion and a childish rivalry with Beerus that only worsens his image.
Pilaf and the Child King of the Multiverse
Pilaf’s gang returns Dragon Ball Super transformed into children, but this only intensifies their antics, turning them into characters whose presence is useless and annoyingly destructive.
Omni-King Zeno, with his childish behavior and devastating power, represents a moral and narrative dilemma that many fans find difficult to stomach.
An excessive ego and excessive love
Barry Kahn tries to sabotage Gohan’s wedding with desperate tricks and ends up being one of the most unlikable characters in the episodes in which he appears.
Universe 2’s Ribrianne wears out her welcome by overly harping on the “power of love,” a joke that feels out of place in the overall tone of the series and which caused many fans to celebrate her eventual elimination by Android 18.
Each of these characters, with its peculiarities and flaws, has generated discussions and debates in the fan community. While some have had redemptive moments, their presence has often been a source of controversy in the evolution of Dragon Ball Super.
