Boys’ success is undeniable and Amazon knows it, which is why it decided to renew the series for one more season ahead of premieres and reviews for the fourth season.
The ad was accompanied by Kimko, also known as La Femenina, wearing a short t-shirt with “Season 5” painted on a table. This small preview has already created huge expectations among fans.
A safe bet for Amazon
“The Boys is a bold, no-holds-barred series that continues to captivate our customers around the world as they cross the cultural fabric season after season,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon’s MGM Studios. “We’re proud of this series, a global franchise, and excited that Eric Kripke and his creative team have so many exciting stories to tell for all of our loyal fans.”
Showrunner Eric Kripke added: “The Boys might be the best job I’ve ever had. How about another show that allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and explosives? The cast and crew are very grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another time. My only problem, since this year promises to be free of conflict or misinformation, is that we’re not sure what to write about.
The returning cast includes Carl Urban, Jack Quaid, Anthony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jesse T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Menifee, Claudia Dumitt and Cameron Crovetti, along with newcomers Susan Hayward, Valorie Curry. and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Praise from the competition
Catherine Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, praised the success of the series: “Since its inception, loyal fans around the world have enjoyed this wild adventure. We couldn’t be more proud of our producers, writers, cast and crew who bring this crazy genius to life. Now, with a fifth season on the way, we can’t wait to see where Eric Kripke takes the boys.
Kripke has mentioned in the past that he wants the series to last at least five seasons, and it doesn’t seem like he has any plans to end it just yet.
What to expect from episode four?
Although the trailer gave some hints of what to expect, specific details of the fourth season’s plot are still a mystery. We know that the premiere will pick up almost immediately after the events of the Gen V finale.
Billy Butcher (Carl City) doesn’t have long to live after overdosing on Temp V in the third final. Luckily, he knows about a certain soup virus that happened in Gen V’s “Woods”.
Eric Kripke said in a recent interview with Variety, “When we did the final race for The Butcher, we were really good at creating a fourth season.” “We knew we wanted that virus to be a big part of season four and for Butcher to know. Sounds crazy I don’t know. It got a little complicated, because how do we show him knowing if it’s not just a conversation? The idea came about in Gen V and it shouldn’t happen in men.
The desire to improve every season
“The advantage is that the writers’ departments of both shows are integrated, so our department took the idea to Michelle and her team and said, ‘Can we put Butcher at the end to show that he’s post-virus?’ It was great, because it served as a great introduction to what was to come. And Carl and Ant were willing to work on their break, but the Homelander episode was Michelle’s idea.
“The world is on the brink. “Victoria Neumann is under the thumb of Homeland’s muscle as she scrambles for the Oval Office and her power more than ever,” reads the season four synopsis. “Butcher, the Christmas boy, Becca’s son, has also lost his position as the leader of the Boys. The rest of the team is fed up with the lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
The first Three Boys season four will be available to stream starting June 13, with new episodes airing weekly until the end of July 18.
