The show is about bikers and the club business, essentially showing how bad and messy things can be. Death, which is a big part of the business, has always been a crucial element of the show.

Piney was one of the founding members of SAMCRO. He was also Opie’s father. And just like Donna, his death had everything to do with Clay. Piney was suspicious of Clay. He threatened Clay when he found out about the letters proving Clay was guilty of murdering Jax’s father, and that’s when Clay decided to eliminate the threat and staged Piney’s death to make it look like a murder committed by Lobos Sonara.
Piney was the second loved one Opie had lost to Clay. If Donna’s death had changed Opie, his father’s death pushed him further down the dark path of revenge and violence. Juice once again found himself caught in the crossfire when he entered Tara’s crime scene. In order to protect Gemma, he did what he thought was right, and once again, the door of choice closed on him. Juice ultimately chose his own death when he had no other place to go.

SAMCRO’s club activity has led to many heartbreaking deaths, one of which was the young Irish couple who wanted to give Abel the home he deserved. The wealthy family adopted Abel, and Jax wanted to leave his son with them so that Abel could be raised by a kind family and away from the biker life. Irish gangster, Jimmy O’Phelan Murdered the Innocent Family to Kidnap Abel because he was Jax’s son and O’Phelan needed safe passage out of Northern Ireland. He was fleeing the IRA and SAMCRO, and using Abel as leverage would give him the best advantage.
Mark and Katey Petrie were collateral damage. Their deaths were hard to watch because they were simply loving and caring parents who were going to give Abel a good life. They did nothing to deserve what happened to them. Their deaths were just another event that added to all the terrible things that had happened to Abel. The poor boy has been through a lot since Season 1.
4 Gemma made her bed
The saddest thing about Gemma dying is that Jax had to do it. After learning that his mother was responsible for his wife’s murder, Jax killed his own mother. The betrayal and pain are simply unimaginable. At the beginning of the series, viewers can see that Jax has a pretty close relationship with his mother. Gemma was the person he trusted and turned to for everything. Gemma was supposed to be his mother, but her web of lies and need for control have driven her further and further away from her son.
What Gemma did was simply unimaginable. By killing Tara, she took away her son’s wife and the mother of her grandchildren, all because she wrongly believed Tara had ratted out the club. It’s no secret that Gemma didn’t like Tara, but killing her crossed a line, and Jax had to pay the price.
3 Tig’s daughter died in front of him
The death of Tig’s daughter is one of the most horrific things fans have witnessed on the show. Damon Pope blamed Tig for his daughter’s death. In his quest for revenge, Pope burned Tig’s daughter alive while Tig was forced to watch. The scene doesn’t ignore Dawn’s burning corpse. Dawn’s death served a terrible purpose in Sons of anarchy. Many viewers couldn’t forget Jax’s moans after watching the episode where Tara died. Her death is devastating, not only because it broke Jax, but also because of the impact it had on his children. Tara’s death marked the beginning of Jax’s self-destruction that ultimately led to his death.
