Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman became an instant hit when the series debuted on ABC in 1993. Terri Hatcher, who played the titular Daily Planet reporter opposite Dean Cain’s Man of Steel, recently shared her thoughts on a promotional photo from the series that went viral due to its provocative nature.
“I broke the internet when we still had dial-up“, Hatcher said The Guardian when asked about the photo that showed the actor wrapped in Superman’s cape and nothing more. “I don’t consider myself that fabulous. I remember the photo shoot, which was to promote the TV show.. It took all day. I wore a white blouse and a pencil skirt because Lois is a reporter at the Daily Planet, with the cape wrapped around it.“

“It wasn’t until the last take of the day that someone said, “Could we try the cape without the blouse?”“I asked myself, ‘What does this imply? Why would Lois Lane be naked under the cape?’ We did it just for fun, but the result was evocative. Now that I’m much older, I’m still proud of it,” Hatcher continued. Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman is based on the DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series, created by Deborah Joy LeVine, loosely follows John Byrne’s modern Superman origin story, where Clark Kent is his true identity and Superman is the disguise. The series, which ran for four seasons, focuses on the relationship between Lois and Clark and the superhero adventures of the Man of Steel.
The story begins 27 years after Jonathan and Martha Kent find a baby, whom they adopt and name Clark, in a crashed spaceship. When Clark moves to Metropolis after working as a newspaper editor in Smallville, he interviews for a job at the Daily Planet and meets celebrity reporter Lois Lane, photographer Jimmy Olsen, and gossip columnist Cat Grant.
