In 1992, Studio Ghibli released Red pig – A unique fantastic film in its kind of the spirit of the world’s animated director Hayao Miyazaki. More than 30 years later, the official Ghibli store pays tribute to the film by reissuing a set of popular Pork-The new products on the theme.

Donguri Sora “Cheers with Porco” Tokkuri Ochoko (Saturday) Recently returned to the official website of the store after its original release in May 2018. As indicated below, the Saké Cup included is modeled after Porco itself. The bottle that accompanies it, which is modeled directly after a view in the film, presents an illustration of the Savoia S. 21 – The Red Sea that Porco uses as its main form of transport. Inspired by a concept introduced in Hayao Miyazaki Age of the flying boat manga, Red pig takes place in Europe of the Second World War in the picturesque Adriatic region. Marco Rossolini – An ex -combatant of the Italian army – is afflicted with a strange curse which gives it the appearance of a pig. Despite his strange affliction, “Porco” spends his days hunting the pirate gangs while occasionally visiting her beautiful friend, Gina. Porco, who considers the curse mainly as the consequence of her dark past, does not expect that it is never broken.

Porco’s real adventure begins when Donald Curtis, a famous American race pilot, challenges him to a duel. While trying to escape the country, Porco’s slat is shot. By necessity, he returns to Italy for repairs. Here, he meets Fio, a talented Eshardme engineer who is aware of his past heroic. After Porco returns to the Adriatic, Curtis confronted it – only to become immediately struck by the FIO, which has hastily accepts to marry it if Porco cannot defeat him. Determined to protect the FIO from love curtis, Porco reproduces in the sky. Although the story is relatively comical, it presents underlying messages on the fascism and guilt of survivors, which are not present in many most famous films in Ghibli.

As one of the most underestimated Ghibli studio films, Porco Rosso has many details that go under the detection of fans.

The Walt Disney Company released Red pig On the DVD and home video in 2005. This release, in addition to a star of starred English voice featuring Michael Keaton (Porco), Cary Elwes (Curtis) and Susan Egan (Gina), helped him win more Western viewers. In 2023, GKIDS included the film in its American theatrical range for Ghibli Fest alongside the general public tubes such as Fiery (2001), Princess Mononoke (1997), My neighbor Totoro (1988) and Kiki delivery service (1989).

At the time of writing this document, Donguri Sora does not offer shipments abroad.
