Planeta Comic gives us a chance to get to know one of Star Wars’ star characters, Yoda the Wise.

It’s been 44 years since Yoda debuted in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, a half-century since the little green alien became not only one of the icons of the franchise, but also of cinema and popular culture. The most interesting thing about the character is that we don’t know anything about his origin or ancestry. Even in the hundreds of books and comics that span the Star Wars universe, it is not known what their race’s name is or what planet they come from, they are known to be the longest-lived race (Yoda died over 800 years) and have a very strong connection to the Force.

Planet Comic knows the public’s great interest in the little green Jedi master, which is why it has published in one volume Star Wars Yoda, a series of ten issues in which the various stories of the long-running character are listed over time.

The power is strong.

The series is made up of four stories, although they have a common thread, each adventure is created by a different creative team. The common thread occurs after Revenge of the Sith, taken from Yoda in exile on Dagobah. On a swampy planet, the ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi tries to communicate with a skeptical and defeated Jedi.

Created by Cavan Scott, Nico Leo and Dono Sanchez-Almara, the first adventure takes place during the High Republic. The Jedi go to save a city that is in constant conflict with its neighbors. This story is very interesting, because what seems like a script, more than predictable, ends up with a very interesting twist that generates real life lessons in the real world.

Jodie House, Luke Ross, and Nolan Woodard are directing the second story, which takes place years before the prequel (at least Season II). Besides Yoda, we also see Doku become part of the Jedi Order in this story. All three issues focus on fear and the dark side of the Force, how it can turn even the best of friends against each other. These numbers are used to see how Yoda begins to question his leadership and is leading an order on the right path.

The third story takes place in the midst of the Clone Wars and was created by Marc Guggenheim, Alessandro Miracolo and Analasia Leoni. We see how Yoda and Anakin Skywalker embark on a secret mission to destroy a new Separatist weapon that will change the course of the war. A very entertaining and action-packed story where we have a fight ahead of us in this volume cover. Despite Yoda’s flaws, this volume appreciates his great talent for teaching and why he is such a good teacher.

Cavan Scott is back with Ebrain Roberson and Neeraj Menon for the latest story, this time set in Dagobah, present day. We see Kenobi trying to talk to Yoda so he can face his fears and remember his most valuable lessons. A little story with undertones of terror (with more than enough imagery for the theme) but also hope and light.

Overall, this is a very good volume, well-constructed stories and very good drawing, although each story has a different style. It’s fun revisiting the different seasons of Yoda’s life where we can see his successes and failures, but even with his age and wisdom, the Jedi Grand Master still discovers new things and realizes how much. I was educated, I knew less about the world.
