Spider-Man beats the hobgoblin with the help of an unlikely friend in Amazing Spider-Man # 5

As I wrote in my review of the first issue of this new Amazing Spider-Man Series, Joe Kelly seems determined to give Spider-Man a whole new day, as in a new start, and as his opening arc ends (and the first arc pulled by the artistic team of Pepe Larraz and Marte Gracia, who will root the rotation with John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna, and Marcio Menyz on art duties, with a witness Joe Carama The Spider-Leters), I think Kelly has mainly achieved this objective, creating a new support cast for Peter to his new job, bringing an ancient enemy in his bitsy and giving Hobgoblin one of his most important scenarios for some time. However, at the same time, thanks to Peter’s Drogated hallucinations, Kelly also found a way to add even more depth to the Peter / Aunt May relationship, which is always pleasant to see.

Amazing Spider-Man # 5 comes from the Kelly, Larraz, Gracia and Caramagna, who reproduce by Larraz, Gracia and Caramagna, and he takes up where the last number stopped, where the former friend of Peter’s college, Brian Nehring, analyzed a bottle of Soda that Peter had given him to prove that Peter Drogated Peter, and that the boss of Brian-Milt now knows that Peter was acting erratic because he was drugged. However, Hobgoblin knows that they contacted the federals about his drug plan, and he therefore leaves to kill Brian and Maira, leading Spider-Man to try to stop him.

Where does Peter and Brian’s link come from?

Peter remembers the last time he saw Brian

The big hook in this opening arc is that Spider-Man has been sprayed with an extra-tie dose of the drug that Hobgoblin sodas in a New York traffic jam, and he made Spidey has hardcore hallucinations throughout this opening arc. His body heals very quickly, and that helps him purge the drugs of his system faster than the others, but it always takes some time. This is why Peter’s new boss wants to fire him (because he is clearly in drugs) and why Aunt May is very worried about him (because he, once again, is clearly on drugs). However, these hallucinations also led him to relive old memories, and that involved Brian, namely that Brian had the bad influence on Peter when Peter was in college, and Aunt May and Uncle Ben finally ceased to let Peter hang out with Brian.

However, in this issue, we see that even after that has happened, Peter has always come to the help of Brian when he was attacked, and the two helped fight certain intimidators, and this kind of friendship is not something that you forget, and that is why Brian was so willing to put his neck on the line to obtain a work of Peter where he works.

Amazing Spider-Man # 2 Review: a surprising character of the past returns from Spider-Man

In a CBR review by Amazing Spider-Man # 2, see how a surprising character in the past of Spider-Man returned to this new race

What is Hobgoblin’s plan for medicines?

Hobgoblin has been really like a villain for a long time (Dan Slott played this angle by making him assume a driving behind behind the scenes, because the Hogoblin was a prosperous businessman in his secret identity as a threat in this question. He is downright scary.

When Spider-Man presents himself to save Maira and Brian, the Hobgoblin has a lot of things where he notes that they are in this mess because Spider-Man has obviously asked them for help, and therefore, it is Spider-Man that they are about to die. As you can imagine, it’s precisely the worst thing to say to Spider-Man!

I really liked that Joe Kelly had Spider-Man to find the intrigue of Hobgoblin (people who have a price with a medication that causes anxiety, then sells them later a medication that heals the medication. As I noted the last time, it is a plot that Doctor Octopus tried years ago), but the Hobgoblin refuses to confirm it. It was a small intelligent twist so that the villain is not selfish enough to confirm his “brilliant” plan.

Kelly has a time when Maira writes to her fine child, and I am really curious to know if this is just supposed to give him an additional characterization, or if it is a clue for a future story. Its name could be a married name in dyphone, but the only Milton I know in the Marvel universe is Hyperion (Mark Milton). I doubt that she is married to Hyperion, right? Anyway, anyway, it was a nice touch to make her write to her stepkid when she thought she could die.

As I noted in the title, Spidey saves the day Brian intervenes to help expose Hobgoblin to a halluigen to their own bases).

The problem ends with Peter and Aunt can be reconciled with his erratic behavior. She knows that she is “authorized” this time because of people’s news, but obviously, she knows that it is not the first time that Peter has acted erratic over the years, but just as obviously, she and Peter know that their link is strong enough to resist Peter’s secrets. The page they kiss, and Peter reminds her what good mom is it? Wow, Larraz and Gracia have done such a good job with this page.

It was a solid opening arc, so it will be interesting to see if they can keep the momentum with the next arc.
