Solo Upgrade fans will soon have a whole new way to enjoy A-1 Pictures’ iconic dark fantasy anime. Starting next month, Solo Upgrade will be one of many blockbuster animated works available to Delta Air Lines customers through Crunchyroll’s new in-flight content service.
As detailed in a recent press release, Crunchyroll is collaborating with Delta Air Lines to bring five popular animated series to the latter company’s “Delta sync Seatback” service, which offers a large collection of in-flight movies and TV series. Delta SkyMiles members will be able to watch “select episodes” not only Solo Leveling but also successful action-fantasy series black cloverthe adorable feline comedy My roommate is a catthe heartwarming shojo classic Fruit basket and the popular animated romantic comedy Horimie. The initial rollout, planned for early November, will feature these series on more than 165,000 seatback displays in more than 940 units of Delta-branded aircraft.

Solo Upgradeproduced in collaboration with Crunchyroll’s parent company Aniplex, has become a major international hit since its debut in winter 2024. Based on Chugong’s bestselling web novel series, Solo Upgrade takes place in a world where “hunters” fight monsters in self-contained dungeons called portals. Once considered the “world’s weakest hunter,” main protagonist Jinwoo Sung gains access to a mysterious program that rapidly strengthens him, allowing him to defeat enemies once considered invincible to even the strongest hunters. Widely praised for its stunning animation and thrilling action sequences, the series won Anime of the Year at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
Delta Air Lines integration decision Solo Upgrade and other popular anime in its loyalty program were driven by appreciation of anime’s unique artistry. “Every Delta flight is an opportunity to experience something new,” says Sarah Downs, general manager of in-flight entertainment engagement and optimization at Delta. “The world of anime is rich in storytelling and emotion, and Crunchyroll brings it to life in a way that’s perfect for travel.” This partnership is a significant part of Delta’s ongoing commitment to delivering cutting-edge entertainment that is as dynamic and diverse as the customers we serve.
In addition to Delta’s seatback initiative, the Crunchyroll library will also be available to customers via the Delta Sync Wi-Fi system. As an added benefit for SkyMiles members, the airline will offer an “exclusive 24-hour free trial” to Crunchyroll’s premium content service, giving users the opportunity to explore the site’s full catalog of TV and movies “during the flight and after landing.” As of October 23, 2025, this included over 25,000 hours of content spread across 2,000 individual titles. “With anime’s ability to transport viewers to new worlds, we look forward to bringing new and longtime fans even closer to the content they love as they travel with Delta Air Lines,” said Terry Li, executive vice president of emerging businesses at Crunchyroll.
