Timothy Truman and Tomás Giorello bring us a new episode of Conan’s Chronicles with new adaptations of Robert E. Howard’s stories in a volume published by Panini Comics

Modern reinterpretation in cartoons of the writings of Robert E. Howard ON Conan (not the last) continues his journey in a luxury edition thanks to Panini Comics. The fourth episode is under the title of Conan library. The Chronicles of Conan 4 – The battle of the Shamla pass.

Conan El Mercenario

Despite the apparent disconnection that exists between the different arches of the plot that the stories find here, allowing a profound understanding of Conan’s motivations and its evolution as a character. This helps the inclusion of well -developed secondary characters, such as the princess Yasmela or the immortal vampire Akivashaadding layers of complexity to the plot.

The black giant

As a leader of Conan’s army shows his maturity, his charisma and his military instinct, winning respect for those who are responsible, seeing here a considerable evolution in the character in what refers to his ferocity. For his part, Giorello does a brutal job especially in the final battle in Paso de Shamla And in the climatic comparison with Thuggra Khtan. For all this, this is probably the best story of those contained in this volume.

Iron shadows on the moon

The other remarkable adaptation of Howard’s work present in this volume would be the one at the end of this, Iron shadows on the moon. Our protagonist escapes from the avenged soldiers of Shah AMORATHa cruel commander of the kingdom of Turanand finds during their escape Olivia (As in the case of Yasmela, here Truman gives Olivia a much greater depth than the one he had in the original story), a princess who has fallen in disgrace who also tries to escape from the claws of Ambrat. Together they arrive on an apparently deserted island (spoiler: It is not desert) in the sea of Province.

In addition to the pirates who cross, this couple has to face supernatural forces with the dyes LovecraftianosEveryone leads through a nightmare crossing to a last fight between Conan and a kind of King Kong Hypervitaminati who will delight monsters lovers, especially considering that Giorello gives everything here to make the struggle as spectacular as possible.

In addition to this pair of arches of the plot, the rest of the stories contained in this volume are also a good champion of why every good fan of Cimmerio should have this collection on his shelf.
