Back to the origins
The integral of The Conqueror’s Armies. Fantastic Epicsstands out for the recovery of the original paintshows more clearly the excellent design of Jean-Claude Gal. As for the different narratives, a distinction can be made between short stories and those with a greater number of pages, the former being more interesting for their freshness within the genre, which has remained intact over the years.
Jean-Pierre Dionnet uses stories to narrate the different contingencies experienced by the conqueror’s soldiers, which are important vital moments for the characters, but trifles for the great army, highlighting buildings, environments or common places such as a port or a prison. These places are drawn to perfection by the mastery of Jean-Claude Gal’s pencil.
“Now the time has come for you to reveal to me the secret of your floating cathedral.”
Gal excels at double pagesdemonstrating his passion for what he designs and the inspiration found in numerous sources, creating each cartoon is a work of art in itselfwhich can be observed to the point of ecstasy, due to the quantity of perfectionist details that compose it.
Arn he is a character, in the stories, who evokes in the reader memories of Conan, Everything is fine and other warriors from sword and sorcery stories, but their importance is supported by a well-written story, which gives them a strong personality that has nothing to envy to characters like those of Robert E. Howard.
These stories by Arn combine several literary genreswhere actions that would be typical of horror stories follow one another, accompanied by moments of humor, but always within a story of action and mystery that fascinates the reader thanks, also, to the incredible scene that Gal draws for the character, giving him a particular situation and atmosphere.
Characters that interact with Arn They are not simple troops of history, but some of them They have as many shades as the protagonistallowing for greater depth in the stories shown in The Conqueror’s Armies. Fantastic epics, that go beyond the classic clichés. This great work makes it as interesting to read as it was when it was originally released, almost half a century ago.

A COMIC BY JEAN-CLAUDE GAL, JEAN-PIERRE DIONNET AND PICARET
The Conqueror’s Armies tells the adventures of Arn, a ruthless warrior, and the fearsome and unknown horde that intends to invade the world. Follow this raw story, but keep your distance from the Conqueror’s Armies!
The volume is composed of various plots about the so-called “armies of the conqueror”, in which strange cities are more dangerous than an entire well-armed army. In the course of these stories we will also witness journeys to the ends of the earth, betrayals, conquests and war campaigns on which strategy depends more than military strength. Nothing is certain, fate turns capriciously.
These stories bring us the essence of great worlds such as those of Conan the Barbarian or Elric, but with an absolutely unique personality. The characterization of the characters, the landscapes, the armor and the clothes, are the product of the knowledge and personal taste of Jean-Claude Gal, as explained in one of the initial appearances of the comic. Therefore, this volume does not only contain stories related to the main theme – but with a spirit of its own – but also contains attachments and extra content to be able to know first-hand the authors, the process of creating this story and all the details. and details it contains.
It is a complete experience for every reader, comic book enthusiast and illustration enthusiast.
