The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1127, “Adventure in the Land of Mystery,” out now in English from Viz.
One piece Chapter 1127 was released on September 22, 2024, and fans were quick to point out some of the chapter’s strange inconsistencies. The chapter focuses on Nami and the original East Blue Straw Hats, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp, who wake up in a strange castle and land. They encounter strange monsters that are quickly taken down and debut their new clothes for the remainder of the arc.
However, the chapter contains some strange errors, ranging from character appearances to the mischaracterization of characters that Oda has been writing for decades now. These errors have led fans to wonder if what they are witnessing in Chapter 1127, “Adventure in the Land of Mystery,” is part of a hallucination. If it is a hallucination, it means that someone is manipulating the East Blue crew members in ways they haven’t noticed yet, or that they have unwittingly put themselves in danger.
10 Nami lost her iconic tattoo
What does Nami’s tattoo mean in One Piece?
One of the first design mistakes was Nami’s tattoo. This iconic design was an important symbol for the character as it signified her escape from Arlong, the man who ruined her life as a child. The change to the pinwheel evokes Nami’s freedom and her resolve to be herself without shame or restraint. The pinwheel represents the combined love of her parental figures, Genzo and Bell-mère.
For most of Nami’s fantasy outfits where her arm is exposed, her tattoo is visible in her design. It’s not the same for his Elbaf outfit, which seems to be lacking. The sleeves of her outfit aren’t long enough to fully cover her biceps or delts, so her large blue pinwheel tattoo should be showing. If this scene was a hallucination or manipulation of what the readers see, then Nami’s tattoo not being shown would be a clear sign of manipulation.
9 Crew accessories change randomly
Drawing error or intentional?
What at first seemed like minor mistakes quickly became the basis for the theory that the crew was hallucinating. The Straw Hats’ accessories, especially Nami and Usopp, seem to randomly change location or be deleted. Let’s start with Usopp’s bag, which in a matter of pages goes from being an appearance to a disappearance. The bag also seems to serve no purpose, as Usopp never puts his hand in it. It’s more than likely that this is where his ammo is stored. The same can be said for Nami’s curls, which went from a flowery design to a square design between chapters.
The most interesting incident is that of Nami’s bracelet, which changes arms on the same page. Although Oda had some difficulty drawing women, a mistake like this seems intentional rather than accidental. When Nami wakes up, the bracelet is on her left arm, but when she sits up, it switches to her right arm. Later in the story, the bracelet disappears completely. If the characters were dreaming these scenarios, then the explanation for the errors could be found here.
8 The weapons are replaced in one piece
From swords to axes to air
Similar to the props but almost in an odd way, weapon errors are visible in the chapter. The most notable weapon differences are again found with Nami and the Straw Hat captain, Luffy. Weapons are a major part of One Piece, and Oda is very meticulous about their representation to show this fact. This chapter shows Nami equipped with a sword in a panel that disappears just as quickly. The scabbard could contain her Clima-Tact, but that seems unlikely, seeing as she throws it with wild abandon. What’s also odd is that it reappears out of nowhere the next time the audience sees Nami.
Luffy’s weapon is even weirder. When the rubber boy appears in the chapter, he has no weapon on his back, but then in the next panel he is drawn with the handle of a sword on his back, only to have it transform into a large wooden handle for an axe in his next panel, which happens on the same page. Rather than a forgotten detail, it almost feels like whoever is doing these manipulations couldn’t have decided to give Luffy a weapon. This would explain why Luffy doesn’t mention it or how it comes up unexpectedly.
7 Which character said Nami’s name?
None of the Straw Hats called her
At the end of Chapter 1126, “Settling the Score”, a mysterious voice calls out to Nami, waking her from her alcohol-induced sleep. When the next chapter focuses on Nami again, her mysterious person has suddenly disappeared. While at first glance one might think it is one of the Straw Hats, Usopp in particular, as he is the closest to Nami in the castle, it would go against his character to leave Nami behind. While Usopp has his cowardly side, he has never had one towards his friends and teammates; he is capable of moments of pure bravery. This trait makes it impossible for him to be the mysterious voice calling out to Nami in 1126.
As for the rest of the Straw Hats, the infamous Monster Trio is absent from the castle and only meets Nami at the end of the chapter, so it can’t be any of them. The only explanation being a character that has not yet been revealed. A character telling Nami to wake up, which at first might seem like a physical thing like waking up from her sleep, could also have a double meaning of waking up from the dream that keeps her trapped.
6 Shape-shifting cat attacks
As if the cat appeared out of nowhere
The main enemy Nami and Usopp face in this chapter is a cat wearing a crown. A cat much larger than both of them combined can easily defeat Usopp in one blow. While a large cat is not strange to One piecea series that features various bizarre animals, the most peculiar aspect of this cat is how it transforms into a tiger out of nowhere. After knocking Usopp and Nami out of the castle without killing them, the cat suddenly transforms into a huge lion.
Even Nami is confused when she sees how much he has changed. Fans have wondered why this animal changed like this; he wasn’t threatened by Usopp and Nami, he wasn’t injured or needed to become a bigger cat to eat them, and he seemingly changed on a whim. Like Luffy’s weapon, the cat might be another concept being thought of at the moment.transforming into a lion when the aggressor decides that a lion is better suited to the situation.

From Reality Forms to Luffy’s Imagination |
Luffy’s Gears 1 through 5 have served as the franchise’s transformations. Each of them increases in power as Luffy becomes stronger, and each has its own appearance and naming system, with Gear 5 being the newest and most powerful. Oda never confused the naming system between the forms, as they assess the opponent Luffy is fighting relatively well, and each offers different advantages to the Straw Hat Pirate.
This changes in this latest chapter when fans notice Luffy yelling for Gear 4, but The artwork depicts him using Gear 3. Fans were quick to point out this inconsistency, wondering if it was possible that this was another hint left by Oda to let readers know that something about this situation was odd. If someone was manipulating the scene, confusing the name of Luffy’s attack is a minor detail that they may not have even thought about, especially since Luffy’s naming scheme for his attacks follows a more childish mindset.
4 The mischaracterization of the monster trio
Luffy, Sanji and Zorro are acting strangely
Fans were already confused and excited to see the Monster Trio recreate their famous Alabasta moment with a beautiful series of attacks on the lion monster. Questions began to form as to whether this was the Monster Trio that fans knew. While Sanji’s love for Nami is at the forefront, as well as his dislike for wasting food, what caught fans’ attention was his insistence on not leaving behind the bees they knocked out. Fans are aware of the cook’s fear of insects, so him searching for them seems odd. On the other hand, Zorro mentions that finding the sea and the crew should be their top priority. As the Straw Hats’ first mate, it’s common for Zorro to focus on the crew’s safety. What’s unusual is that he talks about searching for something, and the One piece the trope about his inability to follow instructions is not brought up at all.
The most telling part of this strange dialogue is that Luffy refuses food. Like most shōnen protagonists of his era, Luffy has an affinity for food. One piece Fans have joked about Luffy’s willingness to liberate countries and fight dictators if someone would ever feed him. Seeing him refuse a giant cat because the previous food was tasty enough seems out of place. It’s almost as if someone is misinterpreting Luffy’s gluten side.
3 The Straw Hats recently got drunk
Chapter 1126 The Straw Hats Drank Absinthe
During Chapter 1126, the Straw Hats celebrated as they usually do after each arc. This time with the giants who came to their aid during Egghead. There, it is revealed that the hard liquor the crew is drinking is an absinthe known as “The Green Fairy.” One of the giants even mentions that the drink is known to make people hallucinate. While at first it seems like a random fact, the mention of their drinking makes a reappearance in Chapter 1127.
Nami brings up the alcohol after Usopp mentions that he woke up drunk as well. She mentions that it was supposed to make them hallucinate, which Usopp takes as a sign that the giant cat will not bring him any danger if he confronts it. This is not the case, as the cat hits him very hard. At first, this seems to make the hallucination trait inaccurate. It is still possible that the Straw Hats are still suffering from the effects of Absinthe, which could be the reason for all these errors. Usopp has been wrong before, and maybe giants have a different way of seeing hallucinations than humans. One piece.
2 Luffy’s Treasure Has Disappeared
Luffy has kept his straw hat close to him until now.
Luffy’s straw hat is more than just an iconic fashion choice. The hat is not only an heirloom of Shanks, who received it from Gol. D. Roger, but Luffy considers it his most precious treasure. Citing the opening moments of the Romance Dawn arc, he expresses that his hat should not be touched. Luffy and Shanks promised that Luffy will return the hat to him when Luffy becomes a great pirate, so Luffy kept the hat close to him at all times.
Even when Luffy’s outfits changed and featured headgear, Luffy would not remove his hat. This only happens when he is disguised as Lucy, a Viking-themed disguise. Let’s assume that this is a hallucination and someone is impersonating or creating a fake Luffy. In that case, they may not be aware of how important Luffy’s straw hat is to him and make him get rid of it in favor of a Viking helmet. Or let’s assume that the attacker only knows Luffy as Lucy. In that case, they may not know that Luffy has a straw hat.
1 Prince Loki is named after the trickster god
Could this all be his turn?
The Prince of Elbaf was revealed as a silhouette in episode 827, “A Secret Meeting! Luffy vs. the Fire Tank Pirates”, and was named Prince Loki. Since his introduction, the only thing fans have been able to verify about Loki is that he is powerful and controls an army of giants. He also proposed to Big Mom’s daughter Lola, but Lola was unable to follow through on his proposal. Loki is shrouded in mystery and will most likely be one of the major characters encountered in Elbaf.
Loki’s name suggests to fans that this could be part of his plan against the Straw Hats. Named after Loki, the trickster god of Norse mythology, the Prince of Elbaf may be just as fond of tricks as his namesake. Loki may be using his own abilities or those of a Devil Fruit to play a trick on the Straw Hats.. Given his size, he could easily snatch the crew members of the Thousand Sunny and East Blue. At the same time, they passed out on the Giant Ship after drinking, and were then placed on Elbaf in an area for him to play with. This would also explain the inconsistencies. Loki doesn’t know the Straw Hats intimately, and could easily get details about their character and beliefs by mistake. As for his reason? There are too many unknown things about Loki that Oda has kept secret for anyone to guess. As the Elbaf arc kicks off, Loki’s role to play might be the most important.
