Summary
KamiErabi GOD.app takes an over-the-top spin on the truck that inspires reincarnation in the Isekai anime, subverting the expectations of the genre. The purpose of Goro’s observation of the cat incident has yet to be revealed, possibly a challenge or a way to poke fun at the trope. The series stands out from the rest of the Isekai anime by focusing on Goro’s relationship and the moral dilemma of killing his acquaintances. Watch now on Crunchyroll.
Warning: Cheats for KamiErabi GOD.app Episode #2The creators of Crunchyroll’s new death game anime KamiErabi GOD.app must have known what analogy they were drawing to Isekai when the protagonist Goro saw a car about to hit a cat. However, KamiErabi GOD.app lends brutality to the overused isekai plot line by having only Goro watch as the entire brutal scene unfolds before his eyes.
While Isekai manages to recycle many tropes to a ridiculous degree, his use of the reincarnation-inducing car is undoubtedly the most ubiquitous and perhaps most beloved of all in the genre. Some refer to the car that evokes the reincarnation of Isekai’s main character as a “track-san” for its recurring use.
When a truck appears in Isekai, the hero dies so that he can jump over the road and be reborn in his new life. However, this is not the case with Episode #1 of KamiErabi GOD.app by creator Yoko Taro (NieR:Automata), producer Unend and director Hiroyuki Seshita.
Kameirabi GOD.app truck scene has overturned the huge Isekai trope
As of episode #2, the cause of the painting has yet to be revealed. Perhaps Taro wanted to poke fun at the trope by having the hero not do what was expected of him. Honestly, without changing much about the series, Goro could have just jumped on the truck and entered a new world with otherworldly forces. After failing to save the cat, Goro enlists in a forced deathmatch to become the next god and use karma-based abilities with the help of his little flying companion named Lal.
Perhaps Goro’s failure to save the cat is the challenge that qualifies him for the death games. After watching the gruesome scene, Goro receives a strange message on his phone stating that he has been “chosen”. Since participants in a death match are expected to kill each other, it makes sense that an experiment would be necessary to see if potential contestants are selfish enough to save something as innocent as a cat. What’s more, the fact that the other people who were there to witness the disaster were completely frozen, made it feel like an otherworldly experience.
Regardless, KamiErabi GOD.app works like nothing more than an isekai because Goro’s most successful relationship in the series so far is in the game as he did before his life changed forever. As a result, Goro must struggle to survive and kill the people he knows in his normal life. Although it is difficult to kill someone, it is inherently more difficult when the target is identified. So while Crunchyroll’s new death game KamiErabi GOD.app brutally shakes off Isekai’s most famous trope, it’s the only way the series can make the genre look good.
