In 2016, North American publisher Boom! Studio has acquired the rights to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Perhaps when this news was less talked about, many believed that it would not be the last time these rights changed hands, it was only a matter of time. Eight years later, it seems that all these people were wrong, because the publisher showed how to sell the Rangers and give the public what they want: entertainment, good stories, good art and expansion of the Power Rangers universe. And that’s the last thing we’re here to talk to you about.
Through Moztroz, the Power Rangers Universe comes to Spain, a story that further expands the vast universe of the Rangers. Space and time travel where things like the Power Rangers themselves and the Metamorphosis Network are true.
A metamorphosearse!
Eons ago, the inhabitants of a technologically advanced planet with knowledge of the Metamorphosis Network are invaded by hordes of humans commanded by a strange and powerful evil being. When the entire population is released, a group of youths and aliens caught in the web of metamorphosis years ago remain on the planet to stop the advance of evil. The youth combine their advanced technology with metamorphosis to become the Rangers capable of fighting evil, but this comes at a high price, forcing the Warriors to make a difficult decision that will have consequences for the future.
Nicole Andelfinger has created an entertaining story that greatly expands the Power Rangers universe. Without pretending to be anything else, the story is a popcorn adventure told fairly well, albeit a bit confusing for first-timers into the world of Rangers. The story contains many action moments and good humor, in addition, it has many moments that serve as a tribute to the franchise.
The actors are nothing new to the franchise (lead, psychic, secret…) and may not be worth much attention individually, but together they form a very interesting team that works wonderfully. Apart from the main characters, characters from the franchise will also be seen which will make many fans raise their eyebrows in surprise.
For such a story, Simone Ragazzoni and Mattia Iacono’s choice of visuals is perfect. Both benefit from a colorful and action-packed franchise like Power Rangers. Action, dynamics and lots of lights and explosions. The design of the main characters is very good, as is their world. But without a doubt, it’s the big tribute to Rangers that deserves attention, because this is a different comic than New Rangers. From Mighty Morphin, Wild Force, Zero, Mystic Force and many more, we see these heroes from different levels. Rarely do we get to see so many Guardians in all their glory.

Unlike other comics in the franchise, Moztros decided to publish this series in softcover (17 x 26 cm) without covers or dust jackets, which can be seen in the price. With a total of 160 full-color pages, the volume contains six issues of the series and a cover gallery. The size retails for €17.50.
Power Rangers Universe is an homage to the Power Rangers franchise. With a very interesting script and amazing picture, it will delight not only fans but also those who are approaching these comics for the first time. Additionally, the origins of Metamorphosis are explored further as well as the origins of the guardians and their powers. A highly recommended comic to enjoy this summer and dive into this amazing universe that Moztros is publishing.
