Plastic Man is one of the most reliable sources of relief from DC comedy. An idiot and braggadocios that have become criminals with absurd stretching powers to match, Plastic Man has been a member of the Constant Bine B of the Justice League since the iconic 1996 of Grant Morrison in 1996 Jla run. Although at the forefront of the series which invigorated the decreasing popularity of DC super-teams in the 80s and 90s, and a favorite character of cartoon fans Batman: Brave and the BoldPlastic Man did not have a solo comic strip from the mini-series at six Gail Simone in 2019. The black label of DC goes up to the plate with Plastic man: no more! Flight. 1, a hilarious and twisted-horror comedy that follows the plastic man fixing the cannon of his own imminent death.
Plastic man: no more! Flight. 1 is written by Christopher Cantwell, illustrated by Alex Lins, with pages of Jacob Edgar, colors of Marcelo Maiolo and letters from Becca Carey. During a routine confrontation between JLA and Solaris, Plastic Man is affected by a radius of death and begins to disintegrate. A visit to the Batman specialist reveals that the chemical reaction within plastic man either at the molecular level, and that will kill him very soon. The doctor also hypothesizes that he could also be an inevitability of his unique powers. Plastic Man is horrified by the implications for his son Luke, the offspring of the character of Teen Titan, who inherited his powers. The plastic man begins a dangerous quest to save his son, and the only thing powerful enough to permanently link their molecules is a nuclear fission bomb, as well as a healthy globe.

The tragedy of being the funny guy: the greatest weakness of the plastic man is that he thinks he is a joke
The funniest comics of the year is also one of the saddest and most innovative stories of DC for a long time
Time may prove that Plus plastic man! Flight. 1 becomes the most emblematic race for the plastic man, similar to the fraction and the AJA Hawkeye (2012) or even Miller The black knight returns (1986) by redefining the way fans think of a character.
Cantwell was probably born to write a plastic man, immediately offering a perfectly rounded vision of the character of the plastic man with incredible incisiveness and sensitivity, finding a daring comic voice for him who feels powerful and coherent throughout the book. The book plays in a fantastic way on pre -existing expectations, leaning on the reputation of the plastic man as a comedy character in relief and making the cornerstone of his loss.

Rumour: Darren Aronofsky Eyes Film Plastic Man Film for the DCU
The rumors suggest that a plastic film is in development for the DCU of the director of Whale Darren Aronofsky.
Plus plastic man! Flight. 1 has all the spirit and the energy you would expect from a title of plastic man, but with a biting, sometimes subtle veneer, of the jadic that makes the comic feel mercurial and mature. The plastic man is an undeniably complex character after all, once a selfish crook with a cynical eye for the world and now a wacky hero who is still trying to laugh.
Totage in the darkness that underlies the character allows Cantwell to write with an incredible multidimensional emotional range, giving its dialogue space to win fantastic high comics and crushing stockings in an amazing brevity. Carey’s letters also do a lot of work channeling comic timing and helping the dialogue to land with a maximum impact, brilliantly completing the offbeat tone of comics.
Cantwell deliberately positions Plus plastic man! Flight. 1 In the continuity of justice League of America, using a rich backdrop of the history of comics which firmly constitutes the basis of how modern readers conceive justice League. The league themselves is made in hilarious and insane light, recalling underestimated titles like Formerly known as justice LeagueHelped by the nostalgic style of Edgar and the soft colors of Maiolo.
Aside, but barely, halfway by plastic man trying to deliver a mission report:
Batman: What are we doing for dinner tonight? Sushi?
Superman: Too cold for sushi. Ramen?
The world feels dense and real as well as being larger than life, not despite this. Cantwell Wield to establish a story in a cannon as huge and restrictive as the DC justice league to its strength – giving itself space to parody and find imaginative friction in the beloved and familiar world.
Past criminal, present dead, future redemption?
Plus plastic man! Flight. 1 gives a portrait of a deep and complex character of the plastic man and his world
Plus plastic man! Flight. I start with a brief temporal pan through the history of the origin of the plastic man – average burglar, accidental dunk in a tank full of chemicals, heroes, father, husband, the most extensible member of the justice League.
The regrets of the plastic man’s past are a central theme of comics, struggling with mortality in a carnal and complete way that the comics rarely do. Its separate relationships and emotional growth throughout the comic strip underlies and often motivate action, exploring mortality with a feeling of poignant and well-made authenticity.

The art of Lins and Edgar is not only magnificent, but is also a powerful means for the narration of Plus plastic man! Flight. 1. All the pages of justice League come from Edgar, with a heavy but perfectly excavated enclosure style that feels shrill and retro, which makes their world brilliant and simplistic, composed of square jaws and pseudo-Ailes. Plastic Man’s World, from Lins, is much more detailed and sporadic, even in its design of panels. The colors of Maiolo are also much richer and more dimensional, with a realistic sensation which contrasts intensely with the flatter look of the pages of Edgar.
There is an excellent character writing at the heart of Plus plastic man! Flight. 1, supported by the powerful and expressive illustrations of Edgar and Edgar. Cantwell includes the indoor dark cynicism of the plastic man and his light external external bomb and not also contradictory qualities, or separate facets of EEL’s personality, like “Batman” and “Bruce Wayne”. The plastic man is really a funny and generous man. It is also beautiful and insensitive and irresponsible.
Cantwell treats these apparent inconsistencies as contours of a rich and complicated personality, rather than errors of continuity to be corrected in one way or another.
The story clearly shows that although the inferiority complex of plastic man retains it, it is right to feel judged by the rest of the world, and ultimately, it is only an imperfect man stretched in several different worlds, trying to exist in all.
Amazing corporal horror of linen
Plus plastic man! Flight. 1 merges horror and comedy with its incredible art style
Lins deserves the recognition of their illustration throughout Plus plastic man! Flight. 1, giving life to gloriously ambitious and disturbing body horror transformations. The basic concept of comics, an amorphous extensible hero melting in non -existence, is a fertile terrain for an original design work, and Lins draws the best party from the possibility of being as inventive and visceral with its work as possible. There are dozens of remarkable panels and sequences that underline Lins and the impressive imagination of Cantwell for horror, becoming more and more detailed over the series.
The colors of Maiolo also deserve special praise, moving effortlessly between styles and parameters to attract the maximum atmosphere in each page. Their color theory is immaculate, instilling each frame with a striking feeling of cohesion and character that catches the eye. The use of shadows and silhouettes is also very beautiful and elegantly used. The different periods of comics, often visited by the imagination of the plastic man, are pastel and silent in their colors, Maiolo infusing them with a sense of desire and simplicity tinged with pink.

Plus plastic man! Flight. 1 is an instant classic for DC Black Label. Funny, intelligent, insightful and surprisingly illustrated, this volume is an absolute home run of this creative team, giving a new character depth and a visual intrigue to this underestimated hero. With a more gray morality rolled up around his gold heart, it is surprising that it took so long for Plastic Man to present on the radar of the DC anti-hero characters. Eclipped on the front of comedy by Harley Quinn and overshadowed in popularity by more serious characters like Catwoman or John Constantine, he feels a bit like a plastic man was hidden in sight, waiting for someone to invent a story that is definitely his.
Plus plastic man! Flight. I just feel like this story, not just a great comic strip, but a substantial and moving work of art. With a satisfactory resolution but a relatively open end, it would be deeply a shame for this creative team not to do more Plastic man Comics, with the impressive momentum, this comic strip built on only four numbers. A meditation on mortality, family, morality and institution in the digestible form of a minute minute-series, this book will change the way readers think of the plastic man, and how much they want to read more solo comics dedicated to it.
