Phantom Troupe Members Most Likely to Die in Current Hunter x Hunter Arc


Death is commonplace in the ongoing succession competition arc Hunter X Hunterand it’s only a matter of time before it happens again for the Phantom Troupe. Since the beginning of the arc, two members of the Spiders, Kortopi and Shalnark, have been killed, and it’s inevitable that more will fall before the story reaches its conclusion.




As painful as it is to watch the story unfold, Chrollo, Machi, Feitan, and other fan-favorite members of the Phantom Troupe could lose their lives fighting Hisoka Morrow. The powerful band of thieves is determined to avenge the friends Hisoka has already taken from them by taking his head, but the quest for revenge never ends well for the characters of Hunter X Hunterand Hisoka wants nothing more than to kill them all, every last one.


10 Kalluto is on his own path

Kalluto Zoldyck is the Phantom Troupe member least likely to be killed by Hisoka. The youngest of the Zoldyck siblings and only twelve years old, Kalluto’s relative weakness and inexperience are recognized by the rest of the Spiders, and they watch over him accordingly. Phinks is the most protective of the younger assassins from the older members of the troupe.and now with his older brother Illumi a member of the group, reaching him would be an exceptionally difficult feat.


Kalluto’s chances of survival are aided by his lack of history with Hisoka. The two barely know each other, and there is no way Hisoka would refrain from killing him if he had the chance, simply out of fear of enraging Illumi. Kalluto’s mission is to find Killua, and it is unlikely that he would die under any circumstances before the brothers have a chance to reunite.

9 Illumi works for Hisoka

Illumi Zoldyck is the newest member of the Phantom Troupe, and the rest of the Spider-Man are smart enough to know not to trust him. The eldest of the Zoldyck brothers is a long-time friend and ally of Hisoka. with no loyalty to others. The only reasons Illumi joined the Phantom Troupe are to take care of Illumi and kill Hisoka, as the magician paid him to do.


It is entirely possible that Illumi is not even on Hisoka’s radar, or that he does not consider him a true member of the Troupe. Neither this, nor their friendship, would necessarily stop the bloodthirsty Hisoka from attacking Illumi in his current state, but Illumi has always been presented as his equal in combat, and would give him the fight of his life if he tried to take him out.

8 Machi is important for the future of the series

Machi Komacine is largely responsible for the Phantom Troupe’s current woes. Chrollo killed Hisoka in the Heaven’s Arena, but while tending to his body afterward, Machi unwittingly activated Hisoka’s Post-Mortem Nen, reviving him and granting him untold new levels of power. Oddly enough, Hisoka quickly chooses to get revenge on Chrollo by killing all the spiders, but he spares Machi in the process. This was addressed by series writer Yoshihiro Togashi, who explained that Machi was originally supposed to diebut he was spared because he had greater plans for her.

It’s entirely possible that Togashi’s plans for Machi don’t extend beyond the end of the Succession Contest Arc, but it’s equally plausible that he intends for her to play a major role in the Dark Continent Arc. One of the series’ most beloved villains, fans not only want her to survive, but also to see Machi make up for her huge mistake by taking down Hisoka for good.


7 Chrollo is the leader of the Phantom Troupe

Chrollo Lucilfer is the spider Hisoka wants to kill the most. As the man who defeated, humiliated, and killed him, Chrollo made Hisoka furious like no one had beforeand that’s why he targets the entire Phantom Troupe. However, as one of the greatest Nen masters in the world, killing Chrollo is a near impossible task.

Chrollo has already defeated Hisoka once, and even with the clown’s recent power boost, it’s unclear if he’s up to the task and can fare better than they did in their previous fight. As the Spiders’ most focused member and the face of the organization, Chrollo likely won’t die until the end of the Phantom Troupe’s storyline. Hunter X Hunter He does like to surprise fans though, and nothing would raise the stakes more than Chrollo being one of Hisoka’s first victims.


6 Nobunaga’s Hatsu remains unknown

Nobunaga Hazama is one of the members of the Phantom Troupe that fans are most familiar with. He is one of the founding members of the group, His deep friendship with Uvogin was explored in the Yorknew Town arcand he even made an honest effort to endear himself to Gon and Killua. Despite all the screen time he got, the laid-back swordsman’s Nen abilities are the only ones among the spiders that haven’t been revealed.


Nobunaga is known to be one of the Brigade’s main fighters, but he has never actually participated in a fight. While it’s not impossible, it’s unlikely that such a well-developed character would be killed off before this essential aspect of him is showcased. If Nobunaga reveals his Hatsu, then his chances of dying in the Succession Contest Arc skyrocket, as he would have nothing left to show and his death would elicit a massive emotional reaction from fans.

Feitan has had many opportunities to show off his incredible power

Next to Chrollo, Feitan Portor is the strongest member of the Phantom Troupe.. Mixed with a stellar design and a sarcastic and sadistic attitude, Feitan is absolutely adored by fans. Unfortunately for Spider-Man’s torture expert, these factors make him a prime target for Hisoka.


Hisoka’s greatest love in life is fighting and killing powerful opponents. Aside from his boss, this makes Feitan the member of the troupe that Hisoka would most want to slaughter. Losing Feitan would be a major loss to his friends, both on a personal and practical level, putting them completely on the defensive. Feitan’s untimely death would also be one that would spark outrage from fans, as Hunter X Hunter likes to do.

4 Phinks is a terrible match against Hisoka

Phinks Magcub takes his role as protector of the weaker members of the troupe seriously. His physical strength is unmatched by any of his comrades, making him a perfect shield for Kalluto, Shizuku, and, before their deaths, Pakunoda, Shalnark, and Kortopi, but his lack of versatility would make him easy prey for Hisoka.


Phinks’ Hatsu, Ripper Cyclotron, only allows him to hit even harder than he already can. This ability is completely countered by Hisoka’s Bungee Gum, which has the properties of both rubber and bubblegum, leaving him with no options against him in a fight. And because of how powerful it is, it’s obvious that when Hisoka begins his hunt in earnest, Phinks will be at the top of his list to eliminate.

3 Franklin is all alone on the black whale

Franklin Bordeau took a bold approach to hunting Hisoka. While the rest of the troupe split into groups to search for the black whale for him, Franklin was content to sit in one spot, all alone, and wait for Hisoka to make his move.


Franklin seems quite strong by Spider standards, but he is not held in the same way as Chrollo, Phinks, Feitan, and Nobunaga. His Nen ability, Double Machine Gun, would also be useless against Hisoka’s Bungee Gum, as it simply fires Nen balls from his fingers at a rapid rate. Franklin may get lucky, but he may not live long enough to wish he had chosen to hunt Hisoka with his friends.

2 Bonolenov is underdeveloped compared to his friends

Bonolenov Ndongo is the biggest enigma among the surviving members of the Phantom Troupe. He is not a founding member of the group, his reason for joining remains unknown, and he has received minimal page time, with his only significant moment being his fight against a chimera ant.

Bonolenov makes sense as the next Spider-Man to die, especially since fans have little attachment to him, and it’s likely that each death in the arc will have more impact than the last. The dancing warrior is also currently searching for the Black Whale alongside Chrollo and Shizuku, the character Hisoka most wants to kill, and the character readers most expect to see die, respectively.

1 Shizuku’s Death is Prophesied

Shizuku Murasaki is one of the most easily endearing spiders, which makes it all the more tragic that her death seems guaranteed. During the Yorknew City arc, The Phantom Troupe had the opportunity to learn more about its future thanks to Neon Nostrade’s Lovely Ghostwriter ability. These predictions have proven to be accurate over time, and Shizuku makes it clear to everyone that her death will occur in the near future.

With the deaths of Pakunoda and Kortopi, Shizuku is currently the second weakest member of the Spider-Orb, being only more powerful than the twelve-year-old Kalluto. She knows she will never be able to fight Hisoka herself, and instead seeks to help Chrollo find him. Whether she succeeds or Hisoka finds them first, it would be more shocking if this is not where her prophecy comes true, as it seems certain she will be killed by him.
