A new and bold look for the X-Men

Known for her writing and illustration skills, Peach Momoko promises to take us on an unprecedented journey with the latest version of mutants, set to debut in early March. This release is the cornerstone for building the new Marvel Ultimate Universe. Central to the series is Hisako Ichiki, also known as Armor, a character already familiar to X-Men fans, along with Maystorm, inspired by Momoko’s new creation Storm. Together, they are set to usher in a whole new era of mutants.

The official conclusion for Ultimate, however, is that fate has other plans for her. In Japan, urban legends come to life, granting extraordinary powers and wielding weapons, Maystorm and a new team of Ultimate mutants never seen before.

Trust in one view

In a recent interview with AiPT Comics, Momoko shared her initial uncertainty about being cast in this landmark project, but as the series progresses, her confidence in her unique vision for the X-Men grows stronger. According to her, this interpretation does not directly influence the classic X-Men stories, but instead aims to present something completely new and different.

This dynamic Momoko series is the third ongoing series announced as part of the first wave of Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe. Jonathan Hickman and Marco Cecchetto launched this universe earlier this month with Ultimate Spider-Man, followed by Brian Hill and Stefano Caselli with Ultimate Black Panther, also in March. Marvel will announce more titles after the release of Ultimate X-Men in March.

Innovation and tradition in the final universe

It is no coincidence that Hisako Ichiki was chosen as the central figure in this new universe. Known as Armor in the traditional Marvel Universe, Hisako represents the perfect blend of youthful heroism and emotional maturity, qualities that resonate with fans of all ages. The ability to generate a protective force field, a sign of protection and vulnerability, adds to the complexity of the character. This new version of Armor promises to further explore his history in the Ultimate Mutant Universe, giving him a new dimension beyond his usual role as a student at Xavier’s school.

On the other hand, Maystorm, inspired by the legendary Storm, is an added thrill for gamers. While Storm is known for her commanding and commanding role in the weather, Maystorm also brings something mysterious and new. Her relationship with the original Storm and how this will affect her development in the new Ultimate Universe is something that will keep fans on edge. Together, these two characters not only represent the juxtaposition between the new and the familiar, but also testify to the constant evolution of Marvel’s rich narrative.

Relationships and surprises

Curiously, the iconic dynamic storm that Maystorm was inspired by plays an important role in Ultimate Black Panther. If and when these two characters will cross paths on Earth-6160 remains to be seen.

Ultimate X-Men #1 will be available for sale on Wednesday, March 6th from Marvel Comics with the main cover by Peach Momoko herself.
