Discover the future of Christopher Smith’s Peacemaker in the new DC Universe directed by James Gunn and renewed for a second season.

The wait is over, or about to be. After a first season that left us wanting more, “Peaceful,” the DC anti-hero played by John Cena, is set to return for a second season. But what do we know so far?

Although the “Peacemaker” season 2 announcement came before James Gunn and Peter Safran became the new heads of DC Studios, Gunn has confirmed multiple times that production is still underway. This news is a breath of fresh air for fans, especially when you consider that Gunn and Safran are reimagining the DC Comics Cinematic Universe. Therefore, there is still a chance that “Pacifier” will fit into this new vision.

Origins of the Peacemaker: Between Comedy and Violence

The character Christopher Smith made his debut in James Gunn’s “Suicide Squad”, and Cena skillfully brought him to life and took part in the most crazy and funny scenes in the film, such as the competition of eliminated enemies. Although the character is known for his blind loyalty to Amanda Waller and his willingness to do whatever it takes to keep the peace (even if it means going to violence), the first season of the television series showed us more of a side of a person and a complex character.

The first season introduced us to a diverse group made up of characters like Leota Adebayo, Emilia Harcourt, John Economos, Clemson Moore, Vigilante and Egli. Together, Project Butterfly and Peacemaker faced personal challenges, including confrontations with his racist father, Auggie Smith, and the alien threat they faced, so the series had everything to be a perfect combination of action and dark comedy, a deep critique of the United States.

Waiting for the second season and returning the same footage

Although specific details of the second season’s plot are still shrouded in mystery, it’s sure to continue to explore Christopher Smith’s evolution from a powerful anti-hero to a more traditional superhero.

As of now, a release date for the second season has not been confirmed. What we do know is that it will air on Max, the streaming platform that houses original content from the DC universe, such as “Titans” and “Harley Quinn.”

It is impossible to imagine anyone in the role of peacemaker other than John Cena. The cast includes Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Agent Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economist and Dee Bradley Baker as the voice of Eggly. Viola Davis is also expected to reprise her role as Amanda Waller.

Connections to Gunn’s DC Universe

The second season could be part of James Gunn’s DC universe. Recently, Gunnu hinted that we might see Vigilante in another DC project before the second season, hinting at a deeper integration of these characters into the new DC Universe.

Despite his busy schedule as the new CEO of DC Studios, Gunn has signed on to write and direct every episode of “Peacemaker” season two. His relationship with DC, which began with “Suicide Squad”, promises to continue his hands-on approach to the DC universe.

Christopher Smith has made a surprise appearance as a downloadable character in the “Mortal Kombat” video game franchise, reflecting his growing popularity and presence in the DC universe.
