The highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Mayhem, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now has a release date and many more exciting details.

The trailer reveals that the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will debut in 12 epic episodes. After confronting the supervillain in Mutant Mayhem, the heroes in the shell must fight a new villainous Pope (voiced by Alana Ubach, of Legally Blonde fame) who plans to wipe out all mutants. The new trailer reveals that the series will arrive on Paramount+ on August 9, one year and one week after Mutant Chaos hit theaters.

The long awaited sequel

Released in July 2023 by Paramount and Nickelodeon, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a 2D animated series produced by Point Gray Pictures. This series serves as a bridge between Mutant Chaos and the upcoming film sequel. They carry this exciting story forward. Additionally, the youthful voices of Mutant Mayhem will return to voice the Turtles: Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo) and Brady Nunn (Raphael).

This new series follows the untitled sequel to Mutant Mayhem, which is slated for theatrical release in North America on October 9, 2026. “Reinvigorating this franchise has been many years in the making, and we are excited to continue expanding the franchise. Bring the beloved turtle universe and new adventures to families and fans,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation.

After directing Mutant Mayhem, Jeff Rowe returns to direct the sequel, with Seth Rogen once again co-producing through his Point Gray Pictures company. Mutant Chaos 2 will be the eighth Ninja Turtles film to hit theaters and the third animated installment after TMNT (2007) and Mutant Chaos (2023).

Plot details

One of the next biggest attractions will be the debut of Shredder, the iconic antagonist of the Ninja Turtles who has appeared in all the films in the franchise. While it’s not yet known how Shredder will be integrated into the plot, Rowe announced in December that the villain will be “100 times scarier than Superfly.” Of the decision to save the Shredder for the sequel, Rowe commented: “When you’re a teenager and starting to gain confidence, facing an enemy that’s three times more terrifying than anything you’ve seen before, it’s exciting and surprising.”

The excitement among Eli’s fans is palpable. The series promises to continue the legacy of the franchise by combining the action, humor and adventure that these characters have been known for since their creation. Paramount and Nickelodeon’s choice to continue exploring the Turtles universe through animated series and films reflects their commitment to quality and innovation with each new installment.

Increasing expectations

For the new generations who grew up watching the turtles and experiencing these adventures for the first time, August 9, 2024 will mark the beginning of a new era for the heroes in the shell. The battle with the Pope in Tales and the anticipation of facing the Shredder in the Mutant Chaos series, ensures that the coming years will be filled with interesting and exciting challenges for Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael.
