For a series that had been hailed as a mystery of complex murder filled with countless twists and turns, there was little evidence of this in the first. An hour of dry bone presentations that did not do much to instill or give this group talented actors a lot with which to work. However, with two bodies already under a tarpaulin, at least this mystery of murder will be short -lived.
What a difference one day made; Not only season 1, episode 2, the “Black Angels” are an improvement in this opening, but it looks like a different show. No more these difficult moments of dramatic stop time punctuated by stealthy looks and a pure melodramatic eye. After an extended screen hour, Nine bodies in a Mexican morgue is out of the woods. Something that looks like a hot summer sun after a fierce thunderstorm when it starts to find a certain traction. For the first time, there is something at stake, someone in danger and a show that is worth emotional investment.
